Christmas Countdown and Sunday Morning Coffee

Christmas is only eight days away and there is still so much to do! I am engrossed with my Christmas party baking and my Christmas countdown.

I was way behind last week but somehow I caught up. Whew! It’s always a bit of a challenge when our Christmas party is so close to Christmas. But I had no choice but to plan it on the 23rd. Our kids in Northern California couldn’t make it down if the party was on the 16th. And we are not having a party without them! Today is also my Sunday Morning Coffee post. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun.

Season 3 Volume 48

About Me

Homemade white chocolate covered brownie pinecones made from brownies, almonds, and melted chocolate.

How do I know that? I use my Color Coded Spreadsheet and it is a game changer! It’s a countdown of all of the things I have to do and as long as all of the yellow items are crossed off by the end of today I am all good!

I shared it last week and you can learn more about it here.

If you look closely you will see only six items are crossed off.

I have some work to do today! All of the yellow and dark orange items have to be done before tomorrow but I can get all of those done today!

I had hoped to make a lot more of my chocolate-covered brownie pinecones but they are too time-consuming. Dave wanted to eat one last night. He said, “How can you serve a dessert at the party if you haven’t tried it?”.

Soor Dave. There just aren’t enough. But I promised him he could have as many as he wanted at the party!

finding the perfect bedding for a master bedroom

We have beds!

Ok, don’t laugh. I am so embarrassed to tell you this. But the bed frame that Dave and I have been sleeping on has been an old wooden door attached to a metal bed frame.

Forever. As in thirty-seven years of marriage.

The mattress is an amazing tempurpedic mattress and we love it.

I finally decided it was time for a grown-up bed. So I bought one and it arrived this past week.

This is the Hanson Upholstered Wingback Bed from Joss and Main and we love it. Andrew and Charlotte have one and so many of my friends have bought this bed.

We love it!

I forgot to take a good photo of the bed but I promise to update these photos later today!

I also sold our two queen beds as we decided to put a king bed in that room too.

So I bought another king bed which was also delivered on the same day.

Unfortunately, this room still needs end tables and lamps.

I ordered all of the bedding (from Amazon) and I love it. I love the linen duvet cover, pillow shams, and the down comforter. The sheets are awesome too!

My Biggest Challenge This Week

My white kitchen with lots of baking materials on the butcher block island.

You already know what my biggest challenge is this week. Cooking!

My kitchen has been busy because every day I am making about three menu items. I love to multi-task and I end up with stuff everywhere. As I type this I have sweet potatoes cooking on the stove, and royal icing ready to decorate cookies.

This year I made two time consuming desserts, and you know one of them! Next week I am sharing the most amazing cookies I made! I cannot wait to serve them at our party. My only concern is that I don’t want my guests to be confused at the dessert table at a party. I have brownies that look like real pinecones and cookies that may not look edible either!

Silly me.

This week's to do list.
