Enjoying the Ventura Beach House and Sunday Morning Coffee

Our family summer vacation has arrived are we really are enjoying our Ventura Beach House! The remodel was so worth it!

I have always said that you need to put a date on the calendar with a big event if you want to get your house looking its best. All of the last-minute details, including the closets, are done and I must say things are looking good at the Ventura beach house!

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!

About Me

The deck on our third floor with Arhaus furniture, a fire pit, and dinner decor items.

It’s family vacation time at the beach house and we are having a blast!

It feels like I have been waiting for this week for years and if I stop and think about it, it’s true. We started planning the beach house remodel in 2020 and spent 14 months with plans and getting permits from the city (which is crazy since we didn’t ask for a single variance).

Then we spent over a year with the remodel construction, decorating, furnishing, etc. Of course, that last part is really fun, and I am a bit sad that the house is pretty much done.

After years of a big project, we are finally enjoying our first vacation with our entire family!

My Latest Project

King bedded room at the beach house with white and tan bedding and a new white rug.

There are a few things that we completed at the beach house this past week and I cannot wait to share them with you.

Check out the new rug above that just arrived in the king bedroom. It’s from Amazon and I love it.

New built in white closets with gold handles and white and gold wallpaper on the walls.

We also installed the wallpaper and closets in our primary bedroom. We finished installing the closets on Friday and they are amazing. Can I brag that I assembled 12 drawers, including the hinges? I am just so happy that we have a real closet again.

I will be sharing our new closets very soon!

My Biggest Challenge This Week

The living area at our beach house with a large fireplace, a frame tv, a window overlooking the ocean, and a couch, rug, coffee table and chair from Pottery Barn. The vintage cabinet, marble bust, and round rattan mirror are at the top of the staircase.

Once again, the logistics of getting everything done for our family vacation have been crazy.

Dave panicked when he saw how many Amazon packages have arrived this past week. Most of the items were for my grandson but I also stocked up on a lot of staples and items that a new house needs!

Fortunately, he realized all of the boxes contained essential items. At least I hid the ones that weren’t!

The other day I realized we didn’t have any tape in the house. Seriously, no tape? I was trying to hang some photos and I made a template with butcher paper and couldn’t hang it on the wall. Fortunately, our neighbor came to the rescue! Would you believe I bought these frames over a year ago? I knew they would look great somewhere!

I have been at the beach four out of six days this past week and I shared a table I set at home inspired by the beach. I also thought you would like my favorite apple pie, a DIY to make a bread basket, a Pottery Barn knock-off of their 4th of July placemats, gluten-free donuts, and a tour of our finishes deck!

I have lots of fun things to share this week including my favorite summer pillows, our new putting green at the beach house, the most amazing Lemon Pie, and some barbecuing tips. Sometimes I forget to share our Waco Airbnb so I decided to share the bedrooms in our Waco Airbnb and an outdoor patio tour.

  1. Leslie, do you ever get tired? I’m exhausted just reading about all the things you do!
Quick question: can you make your wonderful painted pillows without sewing around the pictures (stars, etc)? Would I use a different technique?

Btw, I met you at Kerri Ann’s last fall and told you I was going to host a SNOWFLAKE PILLOW PARTY- with the Pom poms! It was a huge success and tons of fun! Thanks for your creative ideas!

  2. That all sounds so wonderful Leslie – Congrats on having the whole family in one place! And for putting together your closet! But the thing I really want to know is why there’s what looks like a beautiful door coming from – and going to – nowhere above the entry door … ?! I bet there’s an optical illusion there somewhere and you’ve probably shown us that area before. I’ll look back and see if I can solve the mystery, but for now I’m imagining all kinds of interesting reasons you might have that up there! Just be careful!🤣 Have a lovely 4th of July holiday, and thanks for all the beautiful inspiration as always!
