Ventura Beach Favorites and Sunday Morning Coffee

Having spent almost two weeks at the beach, I have identified some new Ventura Beach Favorites. Some are inside our home and others are not.

There are some wonderful surprises in our newly remodeled Ventura Beach house. These are things I would love to take credit for, but I think they were more just being lucky. I asked our family what their favorites were too and today I am going to share them all.

Season 3 Volume 10

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!

About Me

New beach house remodel living are and kitchen. White couch with pillow with white kitchen with white tile, quartz island, appliances, wood table and white cabinets.

We asked Michael and Matt what their favorite things were about Ventura Beach. Oddly enough, they were all about the beach house.

Their favorites were the new family living area (especially the new large window), the primary bedroom, the putting green, and the bunk beds.

Dave loves the putting green, the weight room (aka the fitness center), and the wine cellar. Surprisingly, those were the three projects he was in charge of. And I do have to admit all three of them really are incredible.

My favorites are a little more specific.

I also love the new picture window in the family living area because it provides a full ocean view from anywhere in the kitchen (which includes cooking and dining), and the sofa and chairs.

And speaking of our kitchen, I love it so much! Cooking is suddenly a lot more fun and I can’t wait to host more dinners for family and friends.

I also love the third-floor deck. We didn’t get a chance to use it very often these past weeks because the Ventura weather has been cold, windy, and rainy. But we have a nice firepit out there and were able to enjoy a few sunsets. With sunset-colored cocktails of course.

In a few months, this area will be the most used area in our home. The outdoor kitchen and grill have arrived but we just haven’t installed them yet.

We also visited two of our favorite restaurants. They are Rum Fish y Vino and Front Street Cafe. If you are in Ventura you must come to visit them.

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

bedrom with drapes, king bed, and night stands

Three of the bedrooms are basically done at the beach house,

This one, which I call the King Bed Room, needs my attention! Matt stayed here last week and he said the bed was great and the blackout curtains were the best.

So far, I hung these amazing drapes and added the coolest bed skirt. It looks amazing and I love that it is snug around the bottom of the bed.

I still need new bedding, art, a rug, and some lamps.

So much work still left to do!

My Biggest Challenge This Week

… has been my health.

I have been fighting a bad cold and cough and some upper back pain.

We spent most of Saturday getting ready to host a baby shower and I must have overdone it because it I woke up Sunday morning hardly being able to move.

I didn’t have time to do anything about it so I took a lot of Advil and survived the day. Let’s hope things are better today!

Maryliz, me, Chalrotte, and Amanda

Maryliz and I hosted the baby shower and we will be sharing everything in a few days. It was so much fun!

Have you tried LightRoom yet? Check out this post by @ChrisLovesJulia. This is a rabbit hole I can’t wait to go down!

I made a dear friend when working on my book, A Home to Share. @christine.chitnis was an invaluable resource that helped me navigate the publishing world. She is a writer, photographer, and publicist. Her account is one you will want to follow!

My friend Leanna @LifebyLeanna shared a brilliant French Toast Muffin recipe that I had to share with you!

I just discovered the account @MaxisKitchen and this tip to keep your avocados from turning brown is amazing!

I LOVE my @Loloirugs and am sharing their advice on how to choose the right size rug for your bedroom.

summary

This week is going to be a great week. I will be up at the beach for a few days but have a lot to do. I will be sharing another Easter craft, all of the details from Charlotte’s baby shower, a new Easter dessert, the bunk room at the beach house, where I found all of the fixtures for the beach house, and an amazing Pottery Barn pillow hack.

Whew! It’s going to be a lot of fun.

  2. Hi Leslie!
I love your beach house remodel and I know you are excited for making new memories there. We will have to try your two restaurant recommendations soon. We enjoy going to Cafe Nouveau (on Thompson Rd.) The food is yummy and their patio area is amazing! Thanks for sharing so many great ideas with us.
