A Spring Garden and Sunday Morning Coffee

| |

It’s warming up and I am really focusing on my Spring garden. With all of the rain this year, lots of my plants are already blooming!

I have four raised beds that I replant every year. My focus is always on heirloom tomatoes. But I also plant lots of herbs, and vegetables, and cut flowers in my spring garden.

Season 3 Volume 18

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!

About Me

Herbs and flowers in the raised garden beds.

I have already started to plan my Spring garden. On Friday I shared how I make my tomato cages here. Tomorrow I am sharing everything you need to know to grow tomatoes in your garden.

Be sure to check out my blog tomorrow to learn everything you need to know to grow tomatoes.

Homemade Marinara Sauce

I thought it might be fun if I shared my recipe to make the Best Ever Marinara Sauce. Once you grow your own tomatoes you can make the best sauce ever! I love having jars of my homemade marinara sauce in the pantry.

There is something so spectacularly amazing about the taste of a fresh tomato picked straight from the vine. Making sauce with fresh-picked tomatoes makes the sauce, that much better. Once you have this, you will want to make enough sauce for the entire year! Of course, you can use the beloved canned San Marzano tomatoes for the sauce also.

In case you haven’t checked the expiration date on your spices lately, take a peek. You may be surprised by how old some of them are!

We are filming another commercial tomorrow!

If you haven’t already heard, we have done a lot of filming at our home in the last twenty years.

We have filmed a lot of commercials, TV shows, and movies here. We are filming the commercial tomorrow but today they will be here getting the house set for the commercial. Technically it is called a “prep day” but this is when they change everything around in our house to get the they need for the commercial.

Be sure to follow my stories today and tomorrow and I will share how the process works behind the scenes.

My Biggest Challenge This Week

Graham, Andrew, and Charlotte
Graham, Andrew, and Charlotte

I have a lot of traveling happening in the next few weeks and it’s pretty stressful.

I use to travel a ton and I have lifetime priority status with American because I have flown over 1,000,000 miles! The good news is that I get better seats and upgrades. The bad news is I spent a lot of time on airplanes.

This past week I was in Sacramento presenting at the Iron Orchid Design Conference. If you aren’t familiar with IOD, I use their products in a lot of my DIYs.

Check out these blog posts:

I am also going to New York next week for an Amazon Conference, and to Atlanta for a wedding two weeks after that. Add in trips to see my grandson (I did see him after my trip to Sacramento and took the photo above)) and all the time at the beach house and it makes me exhausted just to think about it.

It’s a challenge but I will make it work. At the least, I promise to share a lot about my travels!

I recently discovered a blog post from Becki Owens sharing her 10 Favorite Dream Homes. You will be so inspired by these gorgeous spaces!

A Beautiful Mess is a really fun blog to follow. Mandi has such creative ideas and I loved the idea of these reusable sandwich and snack bags. How cute and earth-friendly are they?!

Another busy week at My 100 Year Old Home! We kicked off the week with a fun and easy DIY, with wedding season looming, I shared rehearsal dinner decorations and ideas, then shared one of my favorite posts on how to build tomato cages. I participated in a Blog Hop where we shared Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet recipes and I also shared all of the amazing lighting I chose for the beach house.

Now that the sun has peeked out and the promise of spring is here, I am itching to get out into my garden. Martha shared this article on 11 Raised Flower Bed Ideas That Will Add Dimension to Your Garden that shared some very intriguing ideas!

We have such a fun week planned and I am sharing how to build raised vegetable beds, grow tomatoes, redo your kitchen, add shades to your windows, and add new flooring in the beach house.
