The Book Launch Backyard Party

Are you ready for the big news?

Guess who is going to be a grandma???????????

I have been keeping this a secret for a few months and I am so happy to be able to tell everyone that Andrew and Charlotte are having a baby in April!

Our first grandchild!!!

I guess there is no surprise that they are having a boy! Right?

Andrew and Charlotte’s dog Dug shared the news!

Both Andrew and Charlotte shared the news last week on their Instagram accounts which means I can finally share the news.

We are so blessed and I cannot wait for them to start their family. Congratulations to the most wonderful couple!

Does anybody have any advice for me? I have never been a grandmother before!

Something New

Christmas Family Room Home Tour

Things are going to look different on my blog the day after tomorrow!

It’s going to begin to look a lot like Christmas!

Why?

I like to plan ahead for the holidays and I have so many ideas I want to share. I need to start early to be able to share all of my ideas with you.

Classic Sugar Cookies for Christmas

You probably noticed that my creative mind is on overdrive as I shared a lot of fall crafts on my blog these past few weeks! I just needed to share all of my fall projects before I start sharing Christmas holiday ideas.

I am going to ease into the holidays with a really fun blog series which is my annual Twelve Days to Get Ready for Christmas. Each day I will share lots of ideas that will help you get ready for Christmas.

And the good news? My ideas don’t require you to start decorating yet. I promise!

Christmas Magic Candles

Just make sure you check out my blog post on Tuesday because I am also announcing a giveaway that you will not want to miss!

My Favorite Room

Fall decor on front porch

Although it is not a room, I am about ready to spend a lot of time getting our front porch ready for trick-or-treaters as Halloween is a big deal in our neighborhood.

When the kids were younger we use to get around 1000 trick-or-treaters but now we usually get only a few hundred. I still decorate more for fall than Halloween, but I want our home to be welcoming for all of the kids to discover some really good candy!

It’s looking a bit simple now but later today I am going to have some fun decorating and adding orange lights!

What are you doing for Halloween?

You can still make these Halloween Hot Chocolate Bombs for tonight!

Apartment Therapy Tested (and Rated!) All the Rugs at Pottery Barn. I am so happy the one I bought last week made the list!

This recipe from Nest of Posies for Pumpkin Spice Snack Mix Crackers looks yummy!

Desire to Inspire shared this really cool home with lots of texture and light.

I tried to fit in as much fall decor and ideas on the blog last week. Click on any photo or title for more information.

I had to share one more thing from Martha this week because this is big news!

Martha-logue

This week Martha debuted Martha: Harvest + Holiday, an inspiring digital issue that you can access here – just click on the highlighted link.

I had heard rumors that Martha was creating a new magazine when Meredith stopped publishing Martha Stewart Living earlier this year. It’s kind of a combination of a magazine and catalog and I really like it! Be sure to check it out.

We are starting something fun on the last day of every month. It’s called Looking Back and it is where you can find all of my blog posts for the entire month in one place! I also share my favorite posts for the month and I think you might be surprised.

This week I am starting my Annual Twelve Days to Get Ready for Christmas and will be sharing How to Shop for Holiday Decor, Choosing a Christmas Theme, How to Repurpose Last Year’s Decor, Christmas Table and Decor Ideas, and Gift Wrapping Ideas.

  1. Congratulations to you and all the family, it’s so exciting. Love them to death and spoil them rotten❤️ Great memories are coming, things you will cherish forever🧢🙏🏻

  2. So very excited to hear you are becoming a grandmother Leslie! I know you and Dave must be thrilled. Sending all my love and happiness to you, Dave, Charlotte and Andrew and your growing family.
I remember when I became a Grandma for the first time. I am so excited that you have this privilege, too. Now for the hard part – what will you want to be called?

  3. Such a nice surprise! However, you will find that the young mom’s nowadays do everything differently than we did with our kids and they certainly do not want your advice. It actually surprises me that we were even capable of raising our kids. Things have certainly changed. I took all the advice and help that I could when we had our twins. Maybe it’s just me. Thank goodness the kiddoes are cute, because everything else left a sour taste in my mouth.

  4. Grandparenting is the Best! Enjoy and spoil him! Offer to babysit often, relax, and marvel at all the changes–which come too quickly.
There are so many new gadgets and “methods” out there–let Mom and Dad deal with those. Ha, Ha!

  5. Congratulations all around, I was wondering when you were going to say something I saw a post earlier this week. You better start on that Christmas stocking. Just enjoy every minute! Lucky little boy 💕💕

  6. My advice on being a grandmother. At whatever time seems appropriate for both parents and grandparents, volunteer to keep your grandson on a regular basis once a week for several hours. This helps your son and daughter-in-law and gives you an opportunity to really get to know and enjoy your grandson. Make it a priority. You will become another “loving, safe place” in his life and he will never forget. My husband and I do this and we love planning activities and shopping for toys so that we can plan age-appropriate activities, always in support of their parents’ guidelines. We love our “Saturdays with the boys.” It is exhausting at times because of having two at a time but we love it. Our daughter and son-in-law look forward to it too!

  7. Thats amazing news Leslie, congrats to all. How lucky are they to have you as a grandmother – imagine the crafting days!!!! I have no advice as I am still waiting for this time in my life (with great excitement!) so i look forward to following along and learning from you ❤️

  8. So happy for you! I love being a Grammy! Once the grand babies start they seem to come fast! We had 9 grandchildren in 9 years and only have two daughters! It is a thrilling time of life. Each child is so different. As for advice, I realized that although you want to spend most of your time with your grandchildren it is very important to realize you need your own life. As the kids get older (our oldest is 13 and the youngest is 4) they get busier and busier. The families have a lot on their plate. Raising children is hard work as we remember. Be there when they need you and know they are doing their best to do a good job raising your grandchildren. Know that even when your kids and grandkids may not be able to spend all the time you want with them know that they love you very much. Just have fun with them and be flexible on holidays with families. Things change and that is ok. Your family is growing and it is an amazing adventure to see your own children as parents. You will get a few laughs out of that one. 😂😂. Enjoy!!! Congratulations!!!!

  9. Congratulations are in order! Being a grandparent is joyous. My grandchildren are all grown up, but I have the most special bond with each of them. I remember the anticipation of each birth. There is nothing like it. You will be the best Grandma.

  10. Congrats to all, being a grandparent is wonderful. One thing I did for my grandchildren was having a special drawer for them. I have a farmhouse kitchen table with 4 small drawers and as each grandchild reached around the age of 3, I made a drawer especially for that child, I would add something new after each visit for the next visit, would hit the dollar bins at Michaels, etc. It became a big deal the minute they got to my house, to check their drawer. Fortunately, for the number of drawers, I have 4 grandchildren with no more expected. Something that became much more special than I expected.

  11. So very happy to hear the great news on you becoming a ‘gramma’ for the first time
I just recently found out that I will be also…very excited for this also.
I have heard from so many friends that it’s the best thing that could happen in one’s life, so I guess we will soon find out…Congrats to you and your husband…
