Family Gatherings and Sunday Morning Coffee

What’s my favorite part of family gatherings? I think it might be getting to see all of my favorite people in one place again. Finally.

Whatever your favorite part of family gatherings is, I think we can all agree that family gatherings create cherished memories.

Season 2 Volume 9

Today I am pleased to share Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun.

Family Gatherings

Last weekend, my best friend Maryliz’s son got married. We were so happy to attend the wedding. As an added bonus, all of my children were able to come home to attend the wedding too! I love the wonderful family photo above that was snapped by a friend.

The wedding was at an incredible venue in the Arts District of downtown Los Angeles, the Millwick. The setting was gorgeous. The wedding itself was in the garden area and there were lush green plants and beautiful green and white arrangements.

When the wedding was over, they rolled up the doors to reveal a gorgeous area for dinner and dancing.

I love the way they decorated the tables with different-sized vases and lots of different flowers and candles.

It was so much fun to get together with all of our children and our friends. We cried together at the sweet and thoughtful vows and laughed together over childhood stories and toasts. We dined together on pizzas that were made in pizza ovens that were brought on-site. And we danced and danced and danced.

There were so many comments from so many people about how nice it was to get together again. To celebrate. It was such a special evening.

Something New

Wellness Plan

I get asked all of the time about the Wellness Program at My 100 Year Old Home. How is it going?

In January I made a promise that my company would spend time, during work hours, to get healthier.

It’s been amazing.

Five days a week we exercise for an hour (on the Reformer and Peleton). I will admit it was hard at first and I ached like crazy. I could hardly walk up the stairs for the first month.

But this week things changed.

I have a new desire to want to work out. I crave the feeling of working out. And I finally enjoy the Peleton and I love trying to beat others on the leader board!

Magically, I also don’t hurt as much.

It’s taken a few months but this feeling is amazing.

I am loving the icy blue and sage green colors I am using for my winter palette. I used these colors to create a beautiful Easter table in our family room. We recently moved the furniture around in the family room and I love this new configuration so much. I am not sure why it took me 20+ years to move this table closer to the kitchen!

Easter Decor on the Table

Don’t laugh, but this Family Room/Kitchen area is my favorite room of the week. With all of the time I spend in the kitchen, it actually feels bigger now that the kitchen connects so well with the new family room layout.

Last week was a bit of a whirlwind. I’m not sure how it is March already!

Martha Stewart shared an article on her blog about painting the inside of her Bedford, NY home with limewash. I limewashed terra cotta pots this week, but never a room. I think I might have to try this. What do you think?

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month. We have so much more information than we have ever had about brain health and healing brain injuries. My family has been affected by concussions from sports injuries. I wanted to share this resource with you all.

We’ve got another busy week planned, I know you are shocked (haha). I have another pillow to share, some homemade pasta, a new project with white paper flowers, an amazing dessert, an Easter planter, and some thoughts about white kitchen cabinets.
