pie for breakfast

Holiday traditions are one of my most favorite things I love about our family. We have a lot of traditions and every single one of us is adamant about honoring these traditions every year. Last year we added a new tradition. And it is called Pie for Breakfast.

I am so happy to be partnering with Portmeirion to create this beautiful table for this blog post.

One of my least favorite things about Thanksgiving is that we are all too full after our traditional dinner to eat pie. Rather than forcing ourselves to eat pie when we are way too full, we enjoy Pie for Breakfast the following morning!

I always set a special table for our Thanksgiving Pie for Breakfast celebration. This year I am going to use Spode Cranberry Italian and Portmeirion Pomona. I love how well these two patterns work so well together. I even pulled out my cranberry glass to finish the table. It’s like a perfect extension of Thanksgiving but enjoyed in your pajamas!

Last year my boys had pie after dinner and for breakfast. But trust me, some of us like pie only for breakfast.

pie for breakfast

Pie for breakfast is delicious. I mean seriously, what’s better than pie with a big cup of coffee?

In case you are wondering, I do serve eggs for breakfast with the pie. It seems healthier and it’s also delicious. I usually make a tart or quiche. This quiche has eggs, cheese, and spinach. You can also serve eggs benedict, omelets or any egg dish you want. But remember, pie is filling!

I also served fresh berries. The colors in this table setting just make me happy. I love the cranberry and apricot colors. And my color theme is just perfect with the Spode Cranberry Italian and Portmeirion Pomona.

Pie for breakfast is a wonderful holiday tradition. I hope you will try it out this year. I love that my homemade pies are now much more appreciated. I have been told that the pies taste better in the morning. Especially with coffee. Let me know if you agree!

Be sure to head on over to Portmeirion to add to your china collection in time for the holidays!

  1. Perfect timing. My mother-in-law just informed me that she is bringing three pies for a family of six to feast upon. The pie for breakfast idea just might be executed this year! Beautiful table setting, by the way.

  2. Leslie, we always have done the same thing. Good China and silver freshly washed from day before, A pot of French roast coffee , several varieties of pies plus a big bowl of real whipped cream. Nothing better:)
PS.. It would be fun to see pics of everyone’s China, crystal, linen, or share a favorite decoration used over the Years via Instagram, or share blog ex.

  3. Love your tables! Such inspirations! Do you leave a table set or just set it up broke the meal? Is leaving it set ok to do? It’s so pretty to look at!

  4. Ohhhhh!!! What a terrific idea, pie for breakfast, especially served with quiche and berries! I think this is a great new tradition to add to our old family ones. (My husband always has had leftover pumpkin pie with his early morning coffee after Thanksgiving, so maybe he’s a step ahead of me!) Your tablescape is gorgeous, and I especially adore your cranberry glasses!!
