Thinking About Fall Decor and Sunday Morning Coffee

I love changing the decor in our home for the seasons, but always struggled with decorating early. And yet, it’s almost time for fall decor.

Ugh. The month of August has always been summer at our home but as a content creator, it is my job to share my ideas for each season early. Why? I love to share my fall decor ideas for inspiration. So the earlier, the better.

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!

About Me

Portmeirion Botanic Garden Fall Table

Before you start to panic about fall decor, please know that I won’t start sharing it until August 15th. I am still in the planning stages which is so much fun!

As much as I am struggling with fall decor boxes all over our home I do have to admit that the colors of fall are gorgeous.

Now that things are so neutral in our home adding peach and orange and fall colors in our home could be stunning!

Remember the color palette I created for my fall decor from a Pottery Barn catalog photo? I love these colors.

So let’s enjoy the next week of summer before the leaves turn, hehe.

Of course, I should probably mention that the leaves don’t turn in Southern California until late October or November.

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

Balsam Hill Flocked Christmas Tree

Don’t think I have lost my mind.

But since we are talking about decorating early for the seasons I want to confess something.

I have already started planning for the holidays!

And I am not referring to the Labor Day holiday, it is the Christmas holidays!

Wait. What?

A few weeks ago I realized that I have two houses to decorate for the holidays this year. The beach house was under construction last year and this year it needs to look festive.

I want to use different color palettes this year and I haven’t yet decided on what to do.

So what have I been planning?

I am working on my color palettes and I am starting to plan all of my Christmas crafts. I need at least ten new DIY projects. Hopefully more.

Since I am relocating my entire craft area to the third floor I am excited to have a very large and well-organized craft room. Yahoo!

I can finally get a better handle on my craft supplies and plan projects that use the materials I already own.

I will soon have my holiday DIY projects list so let’s hope I can leisurely get started crafting this month. Wouldn’t that be amazing?

Of course, I can’t share anything about the holidays for months.

As in November.

Just know that as soon as I get my craft room ready the fun will begin but entirely behind the scenes!

And when will that be? In about two weeks! I can’t wait to share my new craft room on the third floor. It’s going to be amazing.

These are some of my favorite holiday projects from previous years.

Do you remember any of these?

My Biggest Challenge This Week

My color palette is done for this year’s fall decor and now I am sorting through all of my old fall decor and making plans to reuse and repurpose.

Why am I doing that?

Because I have a gazillion pumpkins and florals and I am going to try to make new crafts from these items.

Of course, it’s cheaper.

I’ll give you an example.

These pink pumpkins in the photo below look fake up close so I am going to use them for a new pumpkin craft. So don’t throw away any of your old pumpkins because you might be able to use them for a new craft!

I can’t wait to share with you all of my new fall craft ideas. Stay tuned.

It’s been a fun week and a busy one as well. With all of the behind-the-scenes planning, I fill like I am involved in so many things. This past week I shared my fall color palette, and recipes for iced tea, lemon blueberry pie and coffee cake, and homemade marshmallows. I also shared our craft room Waco house kitchen transformations.

Next week will be busy as well (I know, every week here is busy) but I am sharing tips for planning a trip to Round Top, how to save a stained tablecloth, the most common questions about kitchen and bath remodeling, a beautiful centerpiece, and two new fun recipes.
