A Growing Family and Sunday Morning Coffee

We have the most exciting news to share—our family is growing!

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. I have so much to share!

About Me – Our Family is Growing

A woman and man stand side by side, smiling in front of a pool with a view of rooftops, palm trees, and the ocean at sunset.

I love sharing exciting news! Our youngest son, Michael, and his wife, Ellie, are expecting a baby this fall, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

But the surprise doesn’t stop there… after so many boys in our family, we’re overjoyed to share that they’re having a baby girl!

A smiling couple poses closely together indoors, holding a bouquet of pink tulips.

It was one of those unforgettable, heart-bursting moments when Michael and Ellie told us they were expecting. Seeing their joy and excitement filled us with such love and gratitude. Watching your children become parents is one of life’s greatest blessings, and we’re so proud of the thoughtful, kind, and loving couple they are.

And now, the thought of them raising a daughter brings us so much happiness we can hardly put it into words.

We’ve been a boy-heavy crew for so long and loved every muddy-booted, high-energy minute of it. But the idea of adding a little girl to the mix feels so incredibly special. A sweet baby girl to love, to spoil just a bit, and to watch grow up surrounded by the best big cousins and uncles (and one very excited set of grandparents!)—we honestly can’t wait.

Our first grandson, Graham, has brought immeasurable joy to our family, and now the thought of him having a baby cousin to grow up with is just the cherry on top. We are so happy Andrew, Charlotte, and Graham live only ten minutes away from Michael and Ellie.

Plus, Matt and Polina are in San Francisco, and they are close, too!

I’ve already found myself dreaming up little outfits, imagining nursery updates, and maybe even planning a few pink-themed crafts in her honor. This little girl is already so loved and hasn’t even arrived yet.

Michael and Ellie are going to be amazing parents. They are grounded, supportive, and full of love—and now they’re preparing to raise a strong, kind, and beautiful daughter.

Fall can’t come soon enough, and until then, we’ll be soaking in every update, every milestone, and every joyful moment leading up to her arrival.

We feel incredibly blessed to welcome this sweet baby girl into our lives. Thank you for letting us share our joy with you. This new chapter in our family story is one we’ll treasure forever—and we cannot wait to meet the little girl who is already stealing all of our hearts.

My Latest Project

A red brick patio borders a green lawn with scattered fallen leaves, surrounded by dense shrubs and trees in a sunny garden.

My New Obsession: The Pressure Washer Project!

I have a new favorite tool and am completely obsessed—my new pressure washer! What started as a weekend project has quickly turned into a full-on mission, and I’m not even close to finishing.

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching years of dirt and moss disappear in seconds. Who knew cleaning could feel so fulfilling?

I started with our brick back patio, which now looks brand new. It’s incredible what a difference a little high-pressure water can make!

Two wooden chairs sit side by side on grass; the chair on the left is light brown and newer looking, while the chair on the right is weathered and gray.

From there, I moved on to our four teak barstools, and let me tell you—they practically transformed before my eyes. The wood came back to life with each sprayer pass, and now I’m itching to clean everything in sight.

Next up? The large patio behind the Carriage House will be a bigger project. The bricks are covered in moss, and while it will take some time, I’m honestly excited to get out there and work on it piece by piece. The process is oddly meditative—just me, the hum of the washer, and the visible satisfaction of progress.

And then there’s the teak furniture. We have 16 pieces, and I’ve tackled four benches, one coffee table, and one chair. They were embarrassingly dirty but look incredible after a good pressure wash. I can’t wait to finish the rest and return that beautiful teak glow.

This project is the perfect mix of productivity and instant gratification. It feels like giving our outdoor spaces a fresh start, and I am completely hooked. If you’ve never tried pressure washing before—fair warning—you might not want to stop once you start!

My Biggest Challenge This Week

Six people pose for a group photo on a golf course at sunset, with a flagstick and trees visible in the background.
I last played golf in December 2020. This was probably the fifth time I had ever played golf!

I played golf twice this week! Actually, I played on a golf course, and it might not have looked like golf, but I think it was golf.

So we will go with that.

Living in a family of very competitive golfers, I committed this year to learning to play. And then actually playing golf, too.

It may have only been nine holes, but I had so much fun!

I know you are surprised, but I even dressed the part. I have golf pants, skirts, shirts, pullovers, shoes, and clubs. Because we all know that we play better if we look good.

I have a long way to go, and it is a frustrating game. But so far, I love it!

This week's to do list.
  • Take a golf lesson.
  • Finish two new Mother’s Day crafts.
  • Spend at least two days pressure washing the patio and furniture behind the Carriage House.
