Summer Birthday Week and Sunday Morning Coffee
It’s summer birthday week at my house as I am celebrating yet another birthday later this week. But that’s ok because I am a grandma now.
It’s going to be a really fun few weeks as I will get to see all of my kids, my daughter-in-law, and my grandson. Plus we will be gearing up for a fun week at the beach house at the end of the month too!

About Me
Yep. It’s that time of year again.
Another birthday.
And I truly have lost count. So don’t think I am going to even tell you how old I am tuning later this week.
But that’s ok. We spent a fabulous time with lots of family in Atlanta last weekend and I just confirmed a quick trip to Northern California to visit my grandson!
I honestly cannot think of a better birthday gift, right?

My Latest Project
If you read my blog post last week about my new style at the beach house called Modern Coastal Vintage, then you might remember that I am busy at home in Pasadena thinning out things in our home.
After decorating the beach house in a simplified way, I came home and realized there was way too much stuff (aka clutter) in our farmhouse-style home.
I started with the living room and absolutely love how it turned out.
Next, I am working on the dining room. The first thing I did was repaint the dining room. When we filmed a commercial a while back they did some damage to the paint and offered to repaint the dining room.
I went with a slightly lighter version of the previous color and I love it!
Next up is our primary bedroom which also needs repainting! (And it’s painted grey which looks lavender 24/7. I hate it so it is definitely getting painted.)

My Biggest Challenge This Week
Lately, I have been reading too much.
Wait, what?
For as long as I can remember I have loved to read. I have read every day for a few years, but usually, that means ten to fifteen minutes at bedtime. It helps me sleep.
Surprisingly, for the past month, I have been reading a few hours a day. As in every day.
So here is my problem.
I need some more good books to read!

I can’t believe it’s been almost one year since we were in Provence, France with Tracey of French Larkspur. The trip was absolutely magical. We shopped at vintage flea markets and brocante shops in quaint villages and ate our weight in croissants each day!

Heirloom roses are my absolute favorite. Did you know that you can order both cut rose bouquets and rose bushes from Grace Rose Farm? They are so beautiful and so fragrant!
My dear friend and Roundtop shopping buddy Debra Hall has a beautiful online shop. She is a master stylist and has an incredible eye for turning the ordinary into extraordinary.

We kicked off the week by sharing my favorite homemade coffee ice cream, mud pie sundae recipe, yum! Next, we shared lots of ideas for summer entertaining and then how to add color to a bedroom. With the beach house finally completed, I shared what I have termed modern coastal vintage style and how you can style your home with it, how to make a faux magnolia wreath, and finally, my favorite mocktail recipes.

The Mitford series by Jan Karon. The first one is called At Home in Mitford. Pure enjoyment in reading. I am on the Fifth book and cannot put it down. Lovely small town and leaves you feeling good through all the events up and down in the town peoples lives.

Also, just got around to reading Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah and it’s good too!
My friend went to Paris recently and lent me an old book, “The Paris Wife.” Beautifully written. I loved it.
Now reading “The Sweetness of Water,” recommended by Obama.

Reading books – ahhhhh… I grew up down the street from our public library and we would ride our bikes up and fill our bike baskets to the brim, race home, read up a storm, and start the process all over again. As an adult, I go in fits and spurts. Like you, I have found myself reading several hours a day some years. Anyway, I love Louise Penny’s Armand Gamache Three Pines series. Louise is an incredible writer – I think you will love her style! And I am a fan of action/adventure/mystery/thriller books – I have a long list of favorite authors if that something you like. From Clive Cussler to Daniel Silva to the Pendergast books by Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston to Brad Thor to Vince Flynn/Kyle Mills and loads in between.
The Seven Sisters series weaves a fascinating story while you visit many countries and cultures…Lucinda Riley author
Where the Crawdads Sing, Delia Owens. This is her first novel, not one of her scientific studies or books, but about the life struggles of a young girl on the North Carolina coastlands, Movie was good but not as good as the book.
I just finished ( for the 3rd time) a great book called A HOME TO SHARE, by Leslie Seata!
The diy’s, the pictures, the recipes, the ideas…. You won’t be able to put it down! I am once again motivated beyond belief!
