A Little Time Off, Sunday Morning Coffee

I am taking a little time off next week for a family vacation. Family time is so precious to me and I can’t wait to be together!

I was at the Haven Conference in Atlanta this past week. My brother and his family live in Atlanta, so my family is heading here so that we can all spend a week together. I will be working a little bit and I promise there will be a blog post each day!

Haven Conference This Past Week

Haven 2022

I attended the Haven Conference this last week in Atlanta. It is a conference for bloggers to connect and learn and support each other. I was a mentor and a speaker as I have been for the past few years.

Five years ago I came to my first Haven Conference five years ago. I had just started blogging and I was an absolute sponge so I soaked up everything that the experienced bloggers had to share. For the last three years, I have been fortunate enough to speak at the conference and take that responsibility very seriously. I want to help other people grow their blogs and be successful. Most importantly, we have created a supportive community.

Being a blogger and working from home behind our laptops can sometimes be a little isolating. The Haven Conference is a chance to connect faces to blogs and social media accounts and to grow true friendships. It is also a place to learn DIY techniques, attend breakout sessions that help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of blogging, and build relationships.

I met some of my dearest friends at the Haven Conference. Each year, I walk away inspired to do more, share more, and grow more. It is a truly amazing time.

If you have ever thought about blogging, this conference is something you want to attend. It is in Atlanta each year in July.

Something New

Family Room Spring Decor

I love to give thoughtful gifts, but finding something thoughtful is not always easy. I recently learned about the most incredible website called My Hand In Yours. Everything about this website is about fostering connection and strengthening the bonds that we share. And, 100% of the proceeds go to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The artists and makers whose products are sold on the site are truly remarkable, each in their own right.

When you go to the website, do not be surprised when you see a photo of Jaime Lee Curtis, she is the founder of the thoughtful organization. Her husband, Christopher Guest, directed a movie that was filmed at our house, A Mighty Wind.

My Favorite Room This Week

My favorite room this week is one that I don’t know that I have ever shared. It is a small mud room off of our family room. When we remodeled the kitchen/family room area, what now seems like a gazillion years ago, we also updated this area to create a mud room.

I designed the lockers in this space for, at that time, my three young boys. As you can imagine, ventilation was a major consideration. The things that young boys collect, including sweaty sports gear, socks, and shoes need to be ventilated. Always!

I designed the lockers to that their names were cutouts in the locker doors which provided the necessary ventilation, designated whose locker was whose, and, well, was just super cute!

The only problem with this is that it is small and it is really hard to photograph!

Sometimes it is the small spaces that you make you smile, this one sure does for me!

  1. Leslie, it looks like a “good time was had by all” judging from the photo from Haven you included in this blog. Also, I was interested in the plans for the planter box you referred to but that particular item didn’t seem to have a link. Can you help me out with that?

Thanks for all the great things you continually share with us. I absolutely enjoy all your information and use much more than I originally anticipated.

  2. I want to attend Haven in the future. Have a great vacation at your brother’s house in Atlanta. I loved having two meals there many years ago🥰
