In Between Seasons and Sunday Morning Coffee

There is a quiet moment that comes after something ends and before the next thing begins, and it felt as if I was in between seasons this week.

After finishing A Handmade Spring and returning home from our trip, everything feels just a little slower, a little clearer, and full of possibility. It is not a pause that feels empty. It is one that feels meaningful, like the space where ideas start to take shape and what comes next begins to unfold.

About Me

There is something I have come to appreciate more and more over the years. That quiet space between finishing something and starting something new.

I just wrapped up twelve weeks of A Handmade Spring, and it felt so good to complete it. It was a series filled with creativity, experimentation, and so many projects I truly loved.

But instead of jumping right into the next thing, I stepped away for a bit. We traveled, spent time with family, and slowed down in a way that felt refreshing.

And what I have learned is this. That pause is not empty. It is where the best ideas begin to form.

When you step away, your mind has room to wander. You notice things differently. You start to think about what worked, what you loved, and what you want to do next.

For me, some of my best ideas come when I am not sitting in my craft room trying to create, but when I am out walking, traveling, or simply enjoying time with people I love.

And now I can feel that the next chapter is starting to take shape.

In May, I am launching a new series called Mondays in the Craft Room, where I will share a closer look at how I create, from techniques like machine embroidery and working with clay to the tools I use every day. And just beyond that, A Handmade Summer is already in the works.

But for now, I am enjoying this in-between moment. Because sometimes, the pause is just as important as the project.

Why I’m Changing Things in My Craft Room

I have been thinking a lot about what I share and why, and it has led me to make a change I am really excited about.

Over the past few years, I have loved sharing finished projects. From seasonal crafts to my recent A Handmade Spring series, creating and showing what I make has been such a big part of my work.

But I keep hearing the same thing from so many of you. You want to know more about how I actually create.

Not just the finished project, but the steps behind it.

That is what inspired my newest series, Mondays in the Craft Room. Starting in May, I am shifting the focus from just sharing what I make to teaching more of how I make it. Each week, I will take a deeper dive into specific techniques like machine embroidery, working with clay, painting, and more.

I also want to share the tools I use, how I set up my space, and the little details that make projects easier and more successful. These are the things that often do not make it into a standard project post, but they really matter when you are trying something new.

My goal is simple. I want you to feel more confident creating.

Whether you are just getting started or looking to improve your skills, I hope this new series gives you practical ideas you can actually use. It feels like a natural next step, and I cannot wait to share it with you.

What Worked This Week

This week felt like a reset in the best possible way.

After being gone for ten days, coming home always brings a mix of excitement and reality. There are suitcases to unpack, laundry to do, and a house that needs a little attention. But instead of rushing through it, I leaned into it. I gave myself the time to reset everything, and it made such a difference.

I spent a few days getting organized, putting things back in place, clearing off surfaces, and catching up on all the little things that pile up when you are away. There is something so satisfying about restoring order after time away. It creates a sense of calm that makes everything else feel easier.

It also gave me time to catch up on work more thoughtfully. Instead of jumping right back into creating, I reviewed what I had been working on, finished a few lingering tasks, and eased back into my routine.

But what worked best this week was the time I spent planning.

There is something about stepping away that gives you clarity when you return. I was able to map out what is next, especially with Mondays in the Craft Room starting soon and A Handmade Summer not far behind. Ideas felt clearer, and decisions felt easier.

This week reminded me that a reset is not just about getting things done. It is about creating space so you can move forward with intention.

And that always works.
