Family Gatherings and Sunday Morning Coffee
Last week, we went on a heartwarming journey to Marin County, where Dave and I enjoyed family gatherings and a very special day.
We celebrated a milestone that holds a special place in our hearts – our grandson’s first birthday! It was a long weekend filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories that will be treasured for years. Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee, where we share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun.
Season 4 Volume 14
About Me
As we reunited with our entire family in Marin County, I couldn’t help but marvel at how quickly time had passed since my last visit. Our grandson, Graham, had grown and flourished in the few short months since I last saw him in late January. He is now crawling and standing up, and his infectious giggles and curious eyes filled our weekend with an undeniable sense of joy and wonder.
The main highlight of my trip was undoubtedly Graham’s first birthday celebration. Surrounded by family and friends, we gathered to commemorate this milestone with a Hole In One theme, laughter, balloons, and, of course, the smash cake!
Charlotte did an incredible job planning this party; everything was tied into the Hole in One theme! It was so adorable!
Watching Graham delight in the festivities brought joy to my eyes as I reflected on the blessings of family and the miracle of life.
In addition to celebrating Graham’s birthday, our time together in Marin County was also spent finalizing wedding plans for my son, Michael, and his fiancée, Ellie. The excitement and anticipation surrounding their upcoming nuptials added an extra layer of warmth to our time together, making it all the more memorable.
My heart was filled with our family gatherings, the laughter shared around the dinner table, and the tender moments spent with Graham.
Today is the time for us to bid farewell to Marin County; I couldn’t help but feel a longing to stay.
It was a reminder of the importance of cherishing every moment spent with those we hold dear.
Reflecting on our time up north, I realized these visits are not just about marking special occasions or checking off items on a to-do list. They are about nurturing relationships, creating lasting memories, and embracing the simple joys of life.
With Graham growing and changing with each passing day, I promised to prioritize regular visits to Marin County, ensuring that I don’t miss out on witnessing the milestones and moments that make life so precious.
And so, with a heart full of love and gratitude, we bid farewell to Marin County, knowing that I carry the warmth of family and the memories of a week filled with love, laughter, and celebration. Until next time, Marin County – I’ll count down the days until we visit again.
My Latest Project
My spring is still all about gardening. Look at what has happened in my kitchen garden over the last four weeks! We can’t keep up with all of the lettuce I planted, so it will soon be time to start gifting it to my neighborhood girlfriends!
I honestly thought I was a horrible gardener, and I am so happy I have proved to myself that I can do this.
All I needed was the proper guidance and information to make this foolproof. Check out these two blog posts to see how I created this fantastic kitchen garden.

My Biggest Challenge This Week
Guess who went to the Serena and Lily outlet this past weekend?
That would be me. The outlet is located in Vacaville, Northern California, about 35 minutes from my son’s home in Marin County.
Here is what I bought: a mirror, a bowl, and a hanging light.
The prices were very reasonable, and the lighting was an additional 30% off the outlet price (usually 50% off).
So why was this a challenge?
I would have loved to buy a few more things. But the best way to visit an outlet is to go multiple times as that’s how you find the sales and deals!
But that will have to wait until I am up north again to visit my family and grandson.
- Buy new curtains for the old weight room turned nursery and install them.
- Spring organization in the 3rd-floor craft room.
- Plan out and determine the plants needed for my new spring flower garden.
I am a sucker for anything with lemons. This Lemon Pasta sounds delicious!
I love a good Arnold Palmer drink: iced tea and lemons. But if you add some vodka, it’s called a John Daly!
I love a good makeover, and this dollhouse made from a simple IKEA dollhouse is terrific!

What a wonderful celebration! Happiest of birthdays to little Graham!! 🎉🎂
I know what you mean about having to leave them. It was so tough for me to leave from my visit to see my new granddaughter in CA and go back to Texas. I do FaceTime with her though! She seems to recognize me and gives me lots of smiles and coos. They’re the best gift.
It was the absolute best! They really are ☺️
OMG, that cake smash pic is priceless! Graham looks so much like his daddy!
It was amazing! Haha he really does!
So glad you had a nice visit to Marin. I live in Larkspur and although we’ve had a wet winter, the hills have benefited and are so green and lush. Next time you visit you will have to stop in at Coquelicot in downtown Larkspur, which is a beautiful french gift store and also visit Rulli’s Italain pastry shop. There are also some great antique stores in Petaluma just over the Sonoma county line. I plan on going to the Serena and Lilly outlet the next time I go to the RH outlet. I’ve been crossing my fingers that Pottery Barn will reopen their outlet in Vacaville. Hope to see you up north soon.
Thanks so much for the recs! I’ll have to check these out ☺️ Yes, me too!
