Sisters at the Beach and Sunday Morning Coffee

There’s something exceptional about spending a weekend at the beach, especially with my two sisters, Susie and Jeni, and my two sisters-in-law, Aileen and Shellie.

This weekend, we’ve gathered at our beach house in Ventura for some much-needed sister time, and it’s been nothing short of amazing. We are halfway through our long weekend, and I can’t wait to share some of it with you.

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!

About Me

A Weekend at the Beach: Sister Time in Ventura

Three people in bright green jackets and helmets stand with their bicycles on a residential street near the beach.

It took some long-term planning, but my sisters, sisters-in-law, and I finally met at the beach for a beautiful five-day “weekend.” The last few times we have seen each other have been for weddings, so it was really special to get away with just the five of us.

We started our first morning with a refreshing walk along the beach. There’s something about the sound of the waves and the feel of the sand underfoot that instantly puts you at ease. The conversations flow as easily as the tide, and it’s a perfect way to catch up while enjoying Ventura’s natural beauty.

We have also explored the roads on bikes. If you’ve never tried an e-bike, it’s a game-changer for biking in the area. We cruised along the coast, enjoying the breeze in our hair and the freedom to go a little farther than we might on foot. It was an adventure that combined exercise with sightseeing, and we had a blast discovering the coastline around Ventura.

Relaxing on the 3rd Floor Deck

beach deck with two swivel chairs and a fire pit with the sunset in the back ground.

One of the best parts of our beach house is the 3rd-floor deck. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, whether we’re soaking up the sun during the day or watching the sunset in the evening. We spent hours up there, lounging in comfy chairs, sipping drinks, and enjoying each other’s company. The panoramic views of the ocean and the sound of the waves crashing below made it feel like our own little slice of paradise.

Delicious Dinners and Local Flavors

Five women are seated around a wooden table at an outdoor restaurant. They are smiling, and each has a menu in front of them. Drinks are on the table, and trees and other diners are in the background.

Our evenings have been a mix of cozy dinners at home and dining out at some of Ventura’s best spots. Last night, we ventured out to RumFish y Vino, a fantastic restaurant known for its fresh seafood and vibrant flavors. We indulged in delicious dishes, shared stories, and laughed until our sides hurt. The atmosphere was lively and the perfect setting for a fun night out.

We plan to dine at Model Citizen, another local favorite we’re all excited to try tonight. There’s something about sharing a meal with family that makes everything taste better, and we’re looking forward to another evening filled with great food and even better company.

Sister Time: The Best Time

This weekend has reminded me just how important it is to carve out time for sisterhood. Life gets busy, and letting these moments slip by is easy. But when we come together like this, it reminds us of our bond and how much we mean to each other. Whether chatting on the deck, exploring the beach, or enjoying a meal, these moments stay with us long after the weekend.

As we continue to enjoy our time together in Ventura, I’m grateful for these incredible women in my life. Sister time is the best time, and I’m already looking forward to our next getaway. But for now, I’m savoring every minute of this weekend, soaking up the sun, the laughs, and the love we share.

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

a working craft room

Even though I have been in Ventura, I am still technically out of town. Which means I am away from my craft room!

And apparently, the secret Christmas elves have not been in my craft room doing my projects while I have been away.

Which means I am two more weeks behind.

But that’s ok. I am a fast crafter.

Right?

My Biggest Challenge This Week

Have you been enjoying the Olympics?

They have been and always are one of my favorite events to follow.

You might even call me an obsessed fan.

I love that everyone around the world has been watching and cheering for these athletes who have been working for years to represent their countries at the premiere sporting event in the world.

I feel so blessed that our boys had Olympic dreams. Michael played for the USA National Volleyball team, and Andrew competed in the Olympic Swim Trials three different times (over 12 years).

You might have guessed my favorite events to watch are volleyball and swimming.

Many of our boy’s teammates and friends (including one of Michael’s groomsmen!) competed at the Olympics this year, and we loved cheering them on!

There has been a lot of cheering and screaming in our home these past few weeks.

Of course, I am struggling because the Games will soon be over.

This week's to do list.
  • Decorate our house for fall.
  • Head to northern California for Ellie’s bridal shower hosted by my sister Susie!
  • Spend fun time with my grandson Graham!
