A Fun Celebration and Sunday Morning Coffee

Today is such an exciting day! I’m hosting a baby shower for my daughter-in-law, Ellie, and I can hardly wait to celebrate.

This is such a special moment for our family as we get ready to welcome our newest granddaughter this fall, and I’ve poured my heart into planning every detail.

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun.

About Me

The color palette for the shower is my absolute favorite combination: pink and orange. It’s cheerful, vibrant, and just a little unexpected, which makes it perfect for a celebration that’s all about joy and new beginnings. Pink brings a soft, sweet feel while orange adds a warm, happy energy. Together, they set the tone for a shower that’s playful yet elegant.

I’ve planned so many things to make the day memorable for Ellie and all of our guests. From the moment everyone walks in, they’ll be greeted by beautiful floral arrangements in shades of blush, coral, peach, and rose pink. The tables are set with coordinating linens, layered with pops of orange and touches of gold for a hint of sparkle.

I’ve tucked in some personal details too. little nods to Ellie and the baby that will make her smile. I even made some pottery items, including these napkin holders and some fun favors.

I love how these came out! They might be my favorite thing I have made with clay.

The food and drinks are just as festive as the decor. We have a menu filled with Ellie’s favorites, along with some sweet treats that tie into our color scheme. The dessert table might be my favorite part as it’s overflowing with cookies, cake pops, raspberry and creamsicle bars, and some more surprises.

Two square slices of layered custard cake are placed on a pink ceramic plate, with a light wooden surface and blurred background.

Of course, a baby shower isn’t complete without a few fun games and activities, and I’ve planned a mix that will get everyone laughing and chatting. There’s also a special moment where guests will share wishes and advice for Baby Saeta, which I know will be something she treasures.

I can’t wait to share all the details with you in the next few weeks, from the decor to the food to the special surprises I have planned for Ellie. Today is about celebrating her, Michael, and the joy of family. I’m so grateful to be part of this moment, and I know it’s going to be a day we’ll all remember for years to come.

It’s been a fun experience, and I have loved every minute getting ready for this celebration. I have been making desserts all week, planning my table design, and enjoying every minute.

I cannot wait to share everything with you next week. This was such a special celebration.

Christmas in the Craft Room

This is the week I start making Christmas gifts for my family and friends.

I know it’s still August, but I am motivated this year.

First up, I am going to make a few more designs for the clay napkin holders I made. I love the roses, but I think it will be fun to create some holiday-themed ones, too.

Seven handmade clay ornaments with painted Christmas tree designs, each hanging from green and white twine on a wooden surface.

I am also going to make sets of 12 Days of Christmas oyster shell ornaments.

Four decorative clay shapes with red and pink floral designs.

And of course, some aid dry clay gifts.

My Biggest Challenge This Week

A woman with short, blonde hair and light skin smiles at the camera. She is indoors, wearing a white top, with a framed photo of a child visible on the wall behind her.

Getting older sucks.

It seems it’s always something as we navigate aging. But I have to stop and remember how lucky we are to celebrate family, love, and pretty good health.

This has been my year to get healthy, and so far, so good. I have lost 35 lbs, work out regularly, and bike every time we are at the beach.

There have been a few setbacks, but we have some great travel planned in the next few months … weddings in Montana and Georgia, and a bike trip to Portugal.

Two people wearing bright yellow jackets sit side by side on a bench outdoors. They are smiling and have bicycles mounted on a car in the background.

This week's to do list.
  • Finish the holiday craft projects list. (I will start posting them here on my blog the first week of September.)
  • Get new lights installed.
  • Travel to Northern California to babysit Graham.
