We are Filming This Week and Sunday Morning Coffee

This week, we’re excited to be filming another commercial at our home, this time for a major retailer.

Over the past twenty years, we’ve hosted numerous film crews as they created movies, television shows, commercials, and even music videos at our home. Each experience has been unique, filled with excitement, a little chaos, and endless creativity. While it certainly isn’t for everyone—considering the equipment, the crews, and the adjustments you must make—we have genuinely loved sharing our home as a backdrop to tell stories and promote brands we believe in.

Season 5 Volume 13

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!

About Me

Unfortunately, I can’t reveal who is filming at our home until we are done. But check my Instagram stories this week as I will share some behind-the-scenes footage.

Renting your home for filming can be an excellent and profitable experience if you’re comfortable with the process. Many friends and followers often ask us how we got started or how they can open their homes to the film industry.

To help answer these questions, I wrote an extensive blog post detailing how you can rent your home for filming. I covered everything from what scouts typically look for, how to prepare your home for filming, and even how the entire process works behind the scenes.

If you’ve ever considered renting your home for filming—or if you’re curious about what it’s really like—I encourage you to read my detailed guide here: How to Rent Your Home for Movies, TV, and Commercials. It’s filled with helpful tips and practical advice based on our decades of firsthand experience.

Who knows, your home might be the perfect backdrop for the next big commercial or your favorite TV show!

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

Young tomato plants growing in a garden bed supported by black metal trellises, with leafy greens visible in the background.

Last week, I had two projects on my to-do list, and they are both done. The first was to plant our kitchen garden, and I can’t tell you how happy I was to finish it Monday!

I also bought a few more plants to add to the garden this weekend, as you can never have enough vegetables, right?

My second project was to finish my appliqued jean jacket, and I love how it turned out. I promise to share the complete DIY soon. What do you think?

Brown jacket with colorful floral embroidery draped over a table, next to a bag of embroidery thread.

I cut the flowers from a piece of floral fabric and then hand-embroidered them to the jacket. It took a bit of time but I thought it was very relaxing.

I bought the jacket on Amazon.

A person stands facing a window, their brown jacket adorned with floral embroidery. With the ambience reminiscent of a filming set, they gaze thoughtfully at the seaside view.

My Biggest Challenge This Week

Just when it seemed like our home was getting organized, I landed the commercial shoot at our home. Don’t get me wrong—I am thrilled, but the chaos that comes with filming is never relaxing.

They will be here Tuesday through Thursday and are filming in our bedrooms, so we are moving out and staying at a hotel. That should be interesting, as Dave and I work at home on Wednesdays, and I work at home every day! I’m not sure we can share a coworking space the size of a hotel room!

This week's to do list.
  • Finish shopping for Graham’s 2nd birthday gifts and celebration.
  • Finalize changes to the frot of our house landscaping.
  • Attend my annual physical, which is the precursor to a full body scan. So important!
