Loving Ventura Beach and Sunday Morning Coffee
Ventura Beach isn’t just a destination—it’s a way of life. It’s a place where cherished memories are made for our family.
Our beach house in Ventura strengthens bonds and is a place to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. It holds a special place in our hearts for my family, friends, and me—a place we’re grateful to call home away from home. Thanks for joining me today for Sunday Morning Coffee and Happy Easter. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun.
Season 4 Volume 13
About Me
Ventura Beach holds a special place in my heart. Over a decade ago, my husband and I decided to purchase a home in this picturesque coastal town, less than an hour and a half away from our primary residence in South Pasadena. Little did we know that this decision would lead to countless memories and a deep-seated love for this charming beach community.
Our home, nestled close to the beach, has become our sanctuary—a haven where we can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse ourselves in the tranquil beauty of Ventura Beach. We affectionately refer to it as our “kid magnet” because, much to our delight, our boys share the same love and appreciation for this coastal paradise as we do.
In 2021, we embarked on a transformative journey of remodeling our beach house. It was a monumental project that required dedication, patience, and a keen eye for design. Yet, every ounce of effort poured into the renovation was met with rewards. The result surpassed our wildest dreams, transforming our home into a stylish and comfortable retreat we’re proud to call home.
Since Ventura Beach is not far from our primary residence, we spend as much time as possible at our Ventura Beach getaway. On average, we escape to this idyllic locale for nearly 40% of our time, relishing in the serenity and natural beauty surrounding us.
Just last weekend, we spent four days at the beach. While the weather may have been a bit uncooperative, with crazy winds sweeping across the coastline, it did little to dampen our spirits. Instead, we embraced the elements and had a fabulous time with family and friends.
From leisurely beach walks, soaking in the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, to cozy evenings spent cooking and dining out at our favorite local eateries, every moment was cherished. Something magical about the ocean air and gentle breeze invigorates the soul and renews the spirit.
My Latest Project
If you have seen a photo of our primary bedroom in our Ventura house, you know it is a work in progress.
Don’t get me wrong, it has a beautiful view.
But when you enter the room, this is what you see.
It’s not comforting, and it feels like two separate rooms.
Plus, it needs art (or something) on the wall to the left of the bed and maybe a coffee table.
And I should mention I have already replaced the floral duvet cover as I know it didn’t work.
So here is what I am thinking.
If I flip the two swivel chairs by the windows to face the bed and add a coffee table, it might tie the room together. And give us a nice place to sit, even at night. A brass glass coffee table in front of the chairs might be perfect, yes?
And the chairs will easily swivel to face the window when needed.
If I placed a mirror on the wall next to the bed opposite the side windows, would it show the ocean view from the mirrors? Or should I paint a few large abstract paintings instead?
Any thoughts?

My Biggest Challenge This Week
It can be frustrating when the little things that bother you become insurmountable. I have a new goal to fix the little bothersome things day by day.
So, this week, I fixed two.
The first is something I should have done 20 years ago.
And you thought I was kidding when I said the little things can really bother you over time. And after 20 years, well, it was time to fix it.
The chairs at our family room table not only cause wear and tear on our floor but also cause an awful noise when someone scoots in! I finally took the time to measure the legs and buy some Silicone Chair Leg Floor Protectors, and all I can say is, “What the heck took me so long?”. They slide and glide and are silent.
Along the same lines, I hate pulling my KitchenAid mixer and our Vitamix blender across my counter. They are both heavy, and they do not slide! I bought some Appliance Sliders that attach to the bottom, and now they slide effortlessly when I pull them out on our counter.
The hysterical part of this story is that I spent $21 to solve two issues that have bothered me for over 10 years. OMG.
I can’t wait to share what I accomplish this next week!
- Finish the reorganization of the downstairs office.
- Start my spring craft-a-thon (which consists of me doing lots of fun new crafts!)
- Head to Northern California to celebrate Graham’s first birthday!
