The Ventura Beach House and Sunday Morning Coffee
We spent our third night at the Ventura beach house last night and it’s incredible. We still aren’t done yet but making lots of progress.
There is still a lot that needs to be done at the Ventura beach house. But I am okay with that. I made so much progress this past week and have many exciting things to share.
Season 3 Volume 7
Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!
About Me
We were in Pasadena most of the week because we filmed on Wednesday. (It was just a photo shoot.) I came up to the beach house on Thursday morning and the house was a bit of a disaster. The painters were still painting the living room, the garage, the staircase, and … everywhere! Plastic was everywhere (which is a good thing) but I kind of made it clear that it was time to finish painting the living area. I wanted my living room to be finished!
As you can see in the photo above, my pleading worked! The living area is complete and the furniture looks great.
I did score a significant buy while I was in Pasadena. My daughter-in-law Charlotte had texted me earlier in the week sharing some amazing new Serena and Lilly chairs she had seen on Facebook Marketplace. I decided to look on FB Marketplace here in Los Angeles and I scored big time!
See the light wood and cane console under the big window? It’s from Pottery Barn and it’s brand new. But the price was about a third of the retail price. I have been stalking the Pottery Barn outlet in Camarillo for this piece with no luck.
I am so happy I found this as I love it and as you can see, it fits perfectly.
My Latest Project
I have been busy looking for inexpensive items to decorate with in the Ventura beach house. I love the pillow covers and the straw baskets I found.
The rug and furniture are from the Pottery Barn outlet. I went with slipcovers again because, with our kids and the dog, we just need the ability to occasionally wash the slipcovers.
I do love the hanging lights I found to hang above the island. They are really well-priced and are from Amazon.
I also love the knobs I found for our cabinets.
On this blog, I may sometimes use affiliate links, which means a small commission is earned if you make a purchase via the link. The price will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link.

My Biggest Challenge This Week
Finding accessories has taken a lot of time and sometimes it gets overwhelming. I love this lamp. It came in a set of two so I put one in the family room and the other in one of the bedrooms.
The magazines you see on the console are all of my back issues of Coastal Living Magazine. They are fun to thumb through and certainly fit well here. Do you have any magazines that you have saved over the years? The only other ones I have saved are, of course, Martha Stewart Living.
I have also been shopping for chandeliers and finally have them all. I needed seven, which is a lot, and I got three from Lamps Plus (which I will be sharing soon!), one from the Pottery Barn Outlet, two from Amazon, and two on my trip to Provence last summer.
Of course, I had to have the ones from Provence rewired and restrung and more. But it’s worth it because of the amazing memories I have from that trip.
I guess you could say I like to shop in a lot of places and countries!
Heidi from Eleanor Rose Home shared a DIY Lavender Linen Spray recipe.
KariAnne at Thistlewood shared 5 Simple No Sew Curtain Hacks.
Janine at Happy Happy Nester shared Sugar Cookies in a Mug Recipe. These look amazing!
I am obsessed with Wendy Bellissimo’s recipe for Spaghetti with Cherry Tomatoes.
My Favorite Find this week was a Loloi rug that Maryliz discovered. I think it might go in the Primary bedroom at the beach house!
Last week was a lot about Valentine’s Day. I shared lots of recipes, crafts, and an amazing wreath made from paper bags!
Martha Stewart shared 33 Game Day Appetizers to Cheer for This Weekend. You can still make some for the big game today!
This week I am sharing a spring tour of our Waco Airbnb, an amazing Tile and Kitchen and Bath store where I bought all of the tile, faucets, and fixtures for the beach house, and lots of photos of our beach house kitchen. I am also sharing why you need colored glass on your spring table and an amazing fascination I have with carnations.

I love everything except the TV art is too dark and not the right shade of blue – it competes too much with the view out the window. Can you soften it to a lighter more farmhouse white/beige or aqua color instead? So the actual view out the window is your focal point? Just a suggestion, not a criticism 🙂
Its looking wonderful! And you can’t beat that view out the windows for sure. 😍
Ahhh it is my absolute favorite! Thank you ♥️🤗
Hi,
We live in France. Have just finished renovating, and purchased the Samsung Frame TV.
Unfortunately, and much to our dismay, it is not possible to stop the art going darker. It’s all to do with the ambient light sensor on the TV.
You get the art, mount etc spot on and then during the day, the TV decides to change the colour because of the daylight, and it goes very very dark. We live in the south where it is continuous sunshine, so it’s impossible. I have explained to Samsung it is in the daytime you want the art to be right, as in the evening you are watching the TV. No solutions as yet, if anyone knows how to solve this problem, I’d be eternally grateful
Ooo interesting perspective! I like it for now but may change it up down the line 🤗
I agree tv darkness really hurts the room view and takes away from the whole floor. I always like a tv to be available but prefer a tv that is set back to have shutters over it when not used or a bamboo screen to roll down in front of the set back tv.
What is going on with the refrigerator….getting a replacement low profile ref??
Your remodel is super lovely!!
Hi Christy! Ah love the bamboo shutters idea 🙏 The status of the fridge- a new counter depth version has been ordered, waiting for it to arrive to install it 🙌🏻
Hi:
Love your beach home. Would you share were you got the table that is under the window! Looks like it may have rattan doors. Thanks so much.
Oh thank you Kathy! It’s from Pottery Barn but I actually found it on FB marketplace for an unbelievable price ☺️🙏
I love that you have two fridges in the kitchen! I have one in my kitchen and two in the garage, and when I entertain, which is quite often, all 3 are filled with platters of food, cakes, drinks and tons of fresh veggies. Your beach home is lovely, and the views are amazing. I lived in Ventura for 15 years and it is one of my most favorite places.
Hi Liz! Omg I am with you, so nice to have a few! 🙏 We absolutely love it- thank you! 🤗
The beach house is looking fantastic and that view, ahhh! Wondering if you have a link for the coffee table?
Hi Gwen! Oh thank you, I am so excited about it! It’s from the Pottery Barn Outlet 🤗
How exciting your remodel is almost over!! Looks so inviting…. Can you please tell me where to start in looking for slipcovers? I love the ones you have here. Thanks
SO excited- thank you Monica! The pieces I bought at Pottery Barn Outlet came with a slipcover. To get started check out my post on how to buy the best slipcovers for your sofa 🤗
