Easy Home Ideas – Sunday Morning Coffee
Easy is one of my favorite words. I love to create things for our home that are easy but look like they are not. Today I am sharing my favorite easy home ideas.
Volume 21
Thanks for joining me for Sunday morning coffee. Today I am sharing my weekly thoughts about entertaining, decor, crafts, and recipes, and my favorite easy home ideas.
A Little Bit About Me
Why can’t things that look amazing be easy?
Ah, but they are.
Somewhere in time, the belief that beautiful things must hard to create, became the norm.
Easy things were simple, and looked inexpensive. Beautiful things were complex and cost a lot of money.
But it’s just not true.
At least it doesn’t have to be.
I love sharing things that are beautiful but simple to create. This applies to decor, entertaining, crafts and recipes. If you have followed me for a while then you know I truly believe this.
I know that I say things are easy to make a lot. But I mean it.
My greatest joy is when I share beautiful things to make (or bake) and then you try them too! To be perfectly honest, that is how I measure success.
I promise to try to create more beautiful things that are easy home ideas that you can create too.
Beautiful and Easy Home Ideas
I thought it might be fun to share my best easy home ideas for decor, crafts, recipes, and entertaining. I should probably call them the easiest of the easy home ideas. And they look beautiful, I promise.
Easy Home Decor Ideas
Using Milk Paint to Get a Chippy Look
My easiest home decor idea has got to be milk paint. I have done so many projects with milk paint and I think my most favorite is the Coffee Table I made with an old trunk and two vintage ceiling tiles.
Why is it so easy? All you do is lightly sand the project and paint with milk paint. As it dries, it becomes chippy.
That’s pretty much it.
Here is the Instagram reel I made when I painted an old copper painted mirror with milk paint. The transformation is amazing!
Easy Wreaths
This was the easiest wreath I have ever made. I took a garland, made it into a circle and it became a wreath. You can find how to make this wreath here. Don’t forget, you can use any garland to make a wreath for any season of the year.
Easy Home Crafts
Paint Rollers
This was a hard one!
But my easiest craft is one that I have made three times. It is printing on fabric and paper with a paint roller.
I can’t even tell you how many of you thought I had painted this by hand. I am flattered that you thought so, but I came up with an easy way to paint this. Once I released the video it became very apparent that this was a very simple craft.
If you have ever painted with a paint roller then you can make these items!
Clay Ornaments
Of course, I had to share one more easy craft idea. Do you remember these?
I know that Christmas is 202 days away, but these clay ornaments were really easy to make. I stamped words on them that pertained to our family from the entire year and hung them from an area in our dining room. You can learn how easy they are to make in my blog post How to Make Personalized DIY Christmas Ornaments.
Easy Home Recipes
Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa
This was the easiest one to pick. That’s because a lot of my recipes are easy but they take a long time to make. My weeknight, or dinner party go to recipe is my Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa.
The recipe takes about half an hour to make from start to finish. That’s because you put the salmon in the oven to bake and then make the Avocado Salsa while it is cooking.
The salmon looks fabulous and tastes even better.
Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa
This recipe is my go-to recipe. It's delicious, healthy and easy to make.
Ingredients
- Salmon:
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 4 salmon fillets
- Avocado Salsa:
- 2 avocados
- 1/4 red onion
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 TBL chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions
Place the salmon in a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Drizzle the olive oil on the top of the salmon and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Grill the salmon on high heat for five minutes on each side. Or bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for thirty minutes.
In a separate bowl, lightly toss avocados, 1/4 red onion, the juice from one lime, 1 Tbsp. olive oil and salt to taste.
Spoon avocado salsa on top of the cooked salmon. Top with finely cut cilantro and enjoy!
Easy Home Entertaining Ideas
Solar Lanterns
Technically I didn’t really have to do anything to make these solar mason jar lanterns. I bought the jars and bought the solar lids with the lights and put them together. So this qualifies as a really easy project for entertaining.
Reflections on the Week
I can’t believe it’s my birthday week.
Last week was completely crazy. We are still having the outside of our home painted and the sanding and scraping is very noisy. We are also doing a ton of projects inside. I can’t share them yet but I love how everything is progressing.
During the month of June I am sharing thirty days of summer and this week I shared tips to getting your backyard ready for summer, a new outdoor dining area at our Waco home, my favorite muffin recipe, and my favorite summer desserts.
I also made a beautiful peony wreath that took thirty minutes to make and shared my favorite must haves in our home.
Which was your favorite?
