Thanksgiving Dinner Outdoors

Today I am sharing my Thanksgiving Dinner centerpiece idea. I am also so excited to share our new Arhaus table and chairs!

When we filmed the Ben Affleck movie, The Way Back, at our home last year,  I assumed the big Thanksgiving Dinner scene would be in our dining room. We have only eaten Thanksgiving Dinner in our dining room, (for twenty years) so when they set up the scene on our back patio, I was intrigued.

Thanksgiving Dinner Ideas

This is the scene from the movie, The Way Back. You can see Ben sitting right there.

I guess I had never considered hosting Thanksgiving on our back porch. That motivated me to create a Thanksgiving table setting on our back porch and I love it!

Something very exciting happened at our home last week. Our Arhaus outdoor Hamptons dining table and chairs arrived! This table is absolutely gorgeous and I love the Hamptons side chairs and Hamptons outdoor end chairs, You may recall we used to have an old teak table that we bought in Bali about twenty years ago. It’s vintage and nice and grey but it’s kind of past it’s prime. Actually, it’s WAY past its prime and time for a new table. Earlier this summer we got a set of Arhaus Hamptons outdoor furniture. The sofa, chairs, and fireplace table are amazing. Our back porch is complete now that we have the dining set too!

I was so in love with this table that I have decided to set one of our tables for Thanksgiving out here. We are having thirty-seven people for Thanksgiving this year and I need to be creative! That’s a lot of people to sit at tables!

Creating centerpieces is one of my favorite tasks when it comes to entertaining. I have been traveling a lot this month and I ended up using faux flowers. Faux flowers just seem to last longer. Hahaha. I love using faux flowers because the faux flowers available in the stores these days are amazing! They look so real and authentic.

I bought the hydrangeas, magnolia leaves, and red berry flowers at JOANN. I absolutely love them!

I used vintage crocks for my vases and also added some English Advertising pots and pumpkins to adorn the table.

This close-up view of my new Arhaus table and chairs really shows the amazing design and craftsmanship. I just love the light color of the wood and I cannot wait to entertain in our new outdoor dining area!

For placemats I used the burlap ruffle placemat from Pier One. The plates are Portmeirion Delamere.

Below are twenty links to some wonderful Thanksgiving centerpiece ideas. I hope you enjoy all of this amazing inspiration!

  1. I love this. So pretty! Would love to have Thanksgiving dinner outside, or in an outdoor space. I live in CT though, and everyone in my family is cold all the time (except for me), so it’s not practical for us. But I sit outside a lot in the fall with a cup of tea!
