Christmas Decor in the Family Room and Sunday Morning Coffee

|

What a week it’s been! Between adding Christmas decor to our family room, a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner, and attending a beautiful wedding in Georgia, my heart feels full.

I love weeks like this, the kind where your calendar is busy, but it’s filled with all the best things: laughter, celebration, creativity, and connection. Our family room is officially dressed for Christmas, with a soft palette of sage green and white that feels so calm and cozy. The family room is finally ready for holiday decor, and our house is warm, inviting, and perfectly prepared.

About Me

A Cozy Christmas in Our Family Room

Every year, I look forward to decorating our family room for Christmas. It’s the heart of our home, the place where we gather with coffee in the mornings, curl up to watch holiday movies, and spend time together by the fire. This year’s decor feels especially warm and welcoming, and I’m eager to share it with you.

A sunlit living and dining room with a set dining table, a white sectional sofa, large windows, and a decorated Christmas tree.

The color palette in our family room centers on soft sage green and warm white, with just a few hints of red for a traditional Christmas touch. I wanted the space to feel calm and cozy, with a layered texture and handmade details that tell a story. Every corner feels intentional and inviting, and this year’s decor truly reflects what I love most about the holidays, creating beauty in the simple moments.

A Handmade Christmas Tree

A cozy living room with a decorated Christmas tree, white sofas, a round coffee table with wrapped gifts and potted plants, and sunlight streaming through large windows.

The focal point of the room is our small flocked Christmas tree, and I absolutely love how it turned out. Instead of filling it with store-bought ornaments, I decided to decorate it entirely with handmade ornaments … every single one made by me over the years. From clay stars and embroidered hearts to glittered trees and air-dry clay houses, each ornament carries a memory of creativity and joy. The flocked branches look like they’ve been dusted in snow, and the soft green ribbon woven through the tree ties the whole color palette together.

A flocked Christmas tree, adorned with assorted colorful ornaments and warm white string lights, brings festive Christmas decor to the space as it stands by a window.

When the lights are on, the tree glows softly in the corner of the room, casting a warm, cozy light over everything. It’s simple but full of heart, and every time I walk past it, I can’t help but smile.

Layers of Texture and Holiday Greenery

This year, I added faux white poinsettias to the coffee table, and they instantly brought a touch of winter elegance. The delicate petals look so real and add just the right amount of texture against the sage green accents throughout the room.

I also replaced the throw pillow covers on the sectional with new ones in shades of green and white, instantly freshening the space. I love how easy it is to change a room’s look by updating the pillow covers; it’s such a simple, affordable trick for seasonal decorating.

A Touch of Art and Ambiance

On our Frame TV, I added a new digital painting that ties the whole room together. It’s amazing how much warmth and character it brings to the space, a little artistic moment that changes the entire feel of the room. It’s a fun way to blend technology with decor and make the TV part of the design, rather than an eyesore.

The dining table in the corner is also dressed for the season. I set it in sage green and white, keeping the look soft and cohesive with the rest of the family room. A few red accents, such as miniature ornaments and berries tucked into the centerpiece, add a cheerful pop of color, making it feel unmistakably festive.

A Cozy Christmas at Home

A dining table set with green and clear glassware, patterned plates, napkins, and a white vase with red berries and greenery as a centerpiece. Framed art hangs on the wall in the background.

This year’s Christmas decor in the family room feels peaceful and personal, precisely what I wanted. The handmade ornaments, the soft glow of the lights, and the mix of greenery and textures all come together to create a space that feels like home.

It’s the room where we’ll sip hot cocoa, wrap gifts, and watch our favorite holiday movies with the fire crackling. Every detail, from the flocked tree to the velvet ribbons, reflects the love and joy that make this season so special.

As I look around, I’m reminded that Christmas decorating isn’t about perfection; it’s about creating a space that feels warm, loved, and lived in. And this year, our family room does exactly that.

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

Six adults dressed in formal evening wear stand together outdoors on a brick patio, smiling at the camera with trees in the background.

We attended the most incredible wedding in Georgia last weekend. My nephew was married and the weekend was so much fun!

Thanksgiving was amazing!

We spent most of the week in Northern California with our kids, daughters-in-law, fiancés, and grandchildren.

We had a magical time, and I realized one very important thing.

It doesn’t matter where you celebrate the holiday, as long as you are with family.

A kitchen countertop displays bowls of mashed potatoes, green beans, and other dishes, set under modern lighting in a bright, white kitchen accented with subtle Christmas decor.

With our new granddaughter, we knew we would travel up north for the holidays this year, and Thanksgiving at Andrew and Char’s was wonderful. We cooked all day Wednesday and had so much fun on the holiday.

Then we shopped, spent time with our adorable grandkids, and enjoyed lots of great wine.

My Biggest Challenge This Week

My white kitchen with lots of baking materials on the butcher block island.

And we are off!

When I had promised to settle down and really focus on our Christmas party, we took off to Atlanta for my nephew’s wedding.

Family events are my favorite, and the wedding events were incredible. We traveled to Macon, Ga, and had the most wonderful time with my family and friends.

Then we took off early in the week for Northern California, and now we are home! I am ready to craft and write blog posts all day and cook for our Christmas party at night.

It’s going to be interesting.
