Top 10 DIY and Custom Craft Projects 2021
Three hundred and fifty-two. That’s how many blog posts I have written, so far, in 2021. Here are my top ten Custom Craft Projects/DIYs I shared in 2021!
I love writing blog posts, which is likely obvious considering the vast amount I wrote this year. Some of my favorite posts are my DIYs and custom craft projects. I can’t wait to see if these were your favorites too!
Favorite Custom Craft Projects
352 blog posts! How is that possible? This makes me sound like I am crazy.
But herein lies the problem.
I loved every minute of it.
OK, there might have been some crazy times and late-night, falling asleep at the keyboard nights.
Actually, there were quite a few of them.
But I have loved writing these posts because I shared something in every single one. I love to share and teach and inspire. So that is why I write so many blog posts!
There is no doubt that this was a year of DIY custom crafts and projects. I shared eighty-seven blog posts that were in the “Crafts” category. But there were many others that I tagged as Entertaining and decor. But that is still a lot of DIY and custom craft projects.
Today I am sharing my ten most popular DIY and custom craft projects for 2021.
These were YOUR favorites. And mostly mine!
My Top 10 DIY and Custom Craft Projects in 2021
I love rose gold and set quite a few tables with all of my rose gold favorite items. I made these candlesticks with rose gold metal leaf. Aren't they fun?
I shared a few of these Painted and Stitched pillows and you all loved my 4th of July star pillow! I encourage you all to make these. And if you don;' want to use a sewing machine for the outline, just use a permanent marker,
I made a lot of projects this year using a paint roller and you all liked my first ... painted dish towels. These were so much fun to make and share!
I discovered a company this year called Iron Orchid Design and I love them! I used one of their stamps to make the Old English Advertising Pots design on the top of these cookies. These are all Christmas-themed but I cannot wait to make more using their other stencils!
Speaking of Iron Orchid Designs, they make stamps, molds, transfers and so much more. This was my first project using their moulds and I love how I was able to add clay to decorate these ceramic pots.
I love to make crepe paper flowers and these peonies are just the best. They look so real and the colors are just incredible.
This is my second most popular Free Motion Embroidery pillow. (The first one I did with the flowers is still the most popular.) I loved making this pillow and hope you might consider making one for this Valentine's Day!
This DIY is amazing when you consider it is pipe cleaners frosted in a container of water and Borax. This DIY is so much fun!
This is the second Pine Cone Wreath I have made and it just might be my favorite. There is no doubt the hardest part of this DIY is cutting the pine cones. But once that is done, the rest is very simple. This winter white wreath inspired so many of you to make one and that makes me so happy!
Over the years our Carriage house has mostly been used for storage. This year I decided I wanted to transform the Carriage House into an entertaining space. The remodel entailed painting, some wood repair, all new lighting, refinishing two pieces of furniture, and more.
I am so proud of this project and thrilled that you all liked it as your favorite custom craft and DIY project of the year.
It is my favorite too!
The Carriage House
This was such a fun remodel project.
Painting the room white made such a dramatic improvement. I decided to use one half of the room for dining and entertaining and the other half for flower arranging.
It is just the most perfect setup.
Aren’t the high ceilings amazing?
I can easily see why this new room was yours and my favorite project in 2021!

You should be very proud of your projects. Awesome job.
Thank you Rebecca. I love DIY projects so much!
Leslie,
What fantastic ideas! It’s such a great mix of challenging & accessible projects.

Robyn
Thank you Robyn. I am excited to be sharing your projects today also!
Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge, know-how and experiences. Look forward every morning to reading your latest blog. A great start to my day. Wishing you all the best for 2022.
Thank you so much Eileen! It makes me so happy to know that you enjoy starting your day with what I have to share. I am so excited for 2022!
Oh, I loved that pine cone wreath…and forgot about it!!! I’m starting to put Xmas away and this is a great idea for winter decor…especially since it’s a winter wonderland here!!
I discovered you about half-way through 2021 and have followed every post since. I’d love to have a home like yours, but my husband won’t go for all the white. He loved contrast and not just touches of it! One whole wall downstairs is aqua mist from Behr (so is one wall in my craft room). We may be moving from out townhouse in Texas to a home in Colorado in 2022, and I’m stockpiling your looks on Pinterest in my “future home” collection!
I am so happy that you found my blog Suzi! Pinterest is such a great way to keep all of the looks you love in one place! I do the same!
Thank you for all the wonderful blog posts, you are one of the most creative bloggers I have found. I really enjoy the mix of projects you do and that the crafts do not look home made!
My personal favourite was the pine cone wreath which is still on my to do list.
Have a wonderful holiday season with your beautiful family.
God bless
Thank you Heather. I am so happy that you enjoy what I share. I love the DIY projects and the pine cone wreath is one of my favorites also! I am looking forward to 2022!

Love your blog and all your creative projects! What more can I say? Just keep up the great posts! Thanks!
Thank you Karen! I have so many amazing things planned for 2022, I can’t wait to get started!
Hi Leslie
Once in awhile I pop in to see what you are up to. You and I are so alike and have been through our entire career. So happy to see you doing well. We really need to catch up. What I am astounded at are how big the boys are. I knew you when you were pregnant with them!
My life continues to grow. I’m in the process of selling my forth company to a very large brand and then will stay and help them grow it even larger. It’s a company called reiimagine.com. Representing luxury properties around the world. Started it during COVID.
You are so talented Les. Very proud of you. We really should have been partners back in those days. :).
Stay healthy and well. Happy New Year. Penny
It is so great to hear from you, Penny! I am glad to hear you are doing well. Thank you for your kind words. Happy New Year!
