How to Make Your Own Decorative Baskets
I am always looking for ways to make things look prettier in our home. Today I am sharing two decorative baskets I made with pom poms and felt.
I love having lots of different types of items to use as storage in my home. I use a vintage cooler to store our dog Sport’s food, a vintage automotive cabinet to store crafts, crocks to store cooking utensils and craft supplies, vintage wire locker baskets to store onions and potatoes, and vintage calf baskets to hold flower arranging supplies.
Today I am sharing two different ways I made some decorative storage baskets. I added pom poms to one and felt peonies to another. I love them both!
Pom Pom Basket
Isn’t this pom pom basket wonderful?
It wasn’t hard to make. I made my own pom poms which are fun and fast to make. I used a pom pom maker but you can also use a piece of cardboard.
I made the pom poms out of chenille yarn and I love how they look. Not only are they soft, but they have a bit of vintage flair to them.
I used a ruler to measure the placement of the pom poms and used straight pins for marking.
Felt Peony Basket
This project is a little more complex if you decide to make your own flowers.
You can buy some fabric peonies and attach them to the top rim of a basket. If you chose to do it this way the project will likely take about fifteen minutes!
I used my Cricut Machine to make the peony felt flowers. I love how they turned out. But they do have a lot of petals. haha.

Cute baskets.
Thank you so much Jean! Have a great weekend!
Love your cute baskets! I see you have Martha’s living. I use to love Martha back in the day and have like 30 of her magazines that were first issued including the premiere one! Don’t know if you ever seen them but they were truly filled with beautiful photographs of beautiful collections. So different in comparison to her magazines now but I still love Martha’s abundance of everything and no matter how old she gets she’s still planting and still accumulating as if she’s 20 and will have the next 70 yrs to enjoy. I think that’s the secret to living a long, “young” and happy life. Everything is still a wonderment!
What a lovely way to look at the secret to living a long, young and happy life Elizabeth! I love Martha’s magazine and have been a subscriber since the beginning. She is simply amazing. Have a great weekend!
Leslie,
Love the baskets you made. Thanks for sharing. What I really LOVE is the Crock. Where do you find your crockery or is it inherited? I love all your ideas and your beautiful home. You are an inspiration to us all.
