Let’s Talk About Amazon Prime Day!

Good morning, and happy Sunday! I hope you’re enjoying a relaxing start to your day with a warm cup of coffee in hand. Let’s start my Sunday Morning Coffee post with something fun, exciting, and maybe even a little bit dangerous if you love shopping as much as I do … Amazon Prime Day!

A bright kitchen features a farmhouse sink, white cabinets, open shelves with plates and glasses, and decorative baskets with dried flowers. A window above the sink lets in natural light.

That’s right, Amazon’s biggest sale of the year is just days away. And guess what? The deals have already started! Beginning Tuesday, June 23rd, I’ll be sharing a complete four-day series of blog posts with everything you need to know to shop the best Prime Day deals.

From stylish home finds to kitchen tools I use every week, I’ll be your guide through the sale—and I’m doing the digging so you don’t have to.

But you don’t have to wait until Tuesday to start shopping. Early Prime Day Deals are already live, and there are some incredible finds if you’re looking to freshen up your home for summer, stock your kitchen, or finally upgrade your outdoor space.

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

A few months ago, I made a commitment to myself. I made a promise to visit my grandkids in Northern California at least once a month.

Of course, that also means visiting my sons and their wives, too! But let’s be honest, the grandkids were definitely the inspiration behind the plan.

I started thinking about how quickly children grow and how easy it is to let time slip by. Even though our family gets together throughout the year and everyone visits Southern California, I wanted to make sure I was making the effort to visit them as well. So I turned it into my monthly project.

Dave and I just returned from a six-day trip to Northern California, and it was one of those trips that reminds me exactly why I made this commitment in the first place.

The weather was beautiful, the days seemed to move a little slower, and we had the chance to simply enjoy being together. Dave played in a golf tournament with our oldest son, which was such a special experience for both of them. Watching them spend time together doing something they love reminded me of how important these moments are.

While the golfers were on the course, I enjoyed plenty of quality time with family, and of course, our grandchildren. There is nothing quite like hearing a toddler laugh, reading books together, going for walks, or just sitting on the floor and playing with our granddaughters. These are the moments I never want to miss.

What I loved most about this trip wasn’t any one event or activity. It was the feeling of being together. Summer has a way of creating those simple, memorable moments that often become our favorite memories. Long afternoons. Casual dinners. Conversations that stretch late into the evening. A little less rushing and a little more time to simply enjoy one another.

The older I get, the more I realize that the best investments I can make are in relationships. Projects get finished. Work deadlines come and go. The house will always need something.

But time with family is something I never regret prioritizing.

This trip was a wonderful reminder that the commitments we make to ourselves can have an incredible impact. When I first decided to schedule these monthly visits, I thought of them as a way to stay connected. What I didn’t realize was how much I would look forward to them and how much joy they would bring.

We are coming home with full hearts, lots of photos, and so many happy memories. And while I am already looking forward to our next visit, I am especially grateful that I decided to stop waiting for the “perfect time” and simply put family on the calendar.

Without a doubt, that commitment is one of the best things I’ve done this year.

What Worked This Week

A woman stands in a sewing room behind a table with fabric tote bags, with shelves of fabric and sewing supplies in the background.

This week, what worked surprisingly well was saying no.

I know that might sound a little strange. After all, I have always been someone who loves to say yes.

Yes to hosting friends. Yes to family gatherings and new projects. And yes to opportunities. And yes to almost anything creative that sounds fun.

But lately I have realized that every time I say yes to something, I am also saying no to something else.

My 100 Year Old Home Offices

This week, I found myself looking at my calendar and my ever-growing list of ideas and projects. There were things I could have added. More crafts. More commitments. And more obligations. Yet instead of filling every available space, I decided to leave some room.

And it felt wonderful.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned over the years is that a full calendar does not always equal a fulfilling life. Sometimes the most valuable thing we can do is protect the time we already have.

When I said no to a few things this week, I found myself with extra time to work on creative projects, spend time with Dave, and simply enjoy being at home. I had time to sit in my craft room and think about what I wanted to create next. I wasn’t rushing from one thing to another and I wasn’t constantly checking the clock.

A sewing workspace with folded fabrics, a sewing machine, rulers on a grid cutting mat, and shelves filled with fabric and sewing supplies.

Plus, I love that I also had space.

And space is something we don’t talk about nearly enough.

Space allows ideas to grow. It gives us time to notice things we might otherwise miss. It gives us room to breathe, to recharge, and to focus on the things that matter most.

I think as women, especially, we often feel pressure to do it all. We want to help everyone and we want to show up for every event, every project, every opportunity. We don’t want to disappoint anyone.

But I am learning that saying no isn’t selfish. In many cases, it’s actually responsible.

When we say no to things that don’t fit our priorities, we create room to say yes to the things that do.

For me, that means making time for family, creativity, friendships, and the work I love. It means protecting quiet mornings and afternoons in the craft room. It means leaving enough margin in my life to enjoy the moments that cannot be scheduled.

These are part of a fun bridal shower gift, and I added the embroidery.

I loved that I could help out some friends with an upcoming wedding shower. I absolutely loved having time to help them. Because friends are always a priority.

As I get older, I am becoming much more intentional about where I spend my time. Time is precious. Once it is gone, we don’t get it back.

So this week, what worked was saying no.

But not to everything.

Just to the things that weren’t as important as the life I am trying to create.

And honestly, that simple little word made all the difference.

This week's to do list.
