Christmas Button Crafts

| |

Today I am sharing some Christmas button crafts. Buttons are a great item to use for crafting so I decided to create a few holiday projects with them.

Each year, I challenge myself to make a few Christmas crafts using items I already had at home. After spending some time in my craft room, I discovered that I could make a lot of different Christmas button crafts!

I have collected buttons for a long time. There are so many vintage buttons at flea markets but I also find them at fabric stores and online too!

My new book, A Home to Share, is available now! Click here for more details!

I own a lot more buttons than I realized and I have lots of colors and sizes of new and vintage buttons. Of course, there weren’t well organized so it did take me longer to find all of my buttons than it did to make the crafts!

As always, I challenged myself to make items that looked like they were store-bought (but weren’t). There are so many fast, easy and fun Christmas button crafts to make! Here are a few of my favorites.

Wreath Pillow with Vintage Buttons

I loved making this pillow using vintage buttons. I created a wreath design with buttons and finished it off with a pretty green satin bow.

You can also watch the video below to see how I made this Christmas button craft.

I love to buy vintage buttons and occasionally I buy them at the flea market. (These cost $3 each, including the jar!)

And I will be honest with you. This pillow is easy to make. That’s because all I did was glue buttons onto a pillow cover to look like a wreath. And then I added a bow.

Seriously!

Of course, you can also sew the buttons on. I just didn’t have a lot of time so the glue gun was easier.

This pillow was so easy to make and all I used was a pillow cover, vintage buttons, a ribbon, and a glue gun.

Button Garland

Next, I made a button garland. I have these vintage windows hanging in our family room and I like dressing them up every season.

I added a wreath to the windows and thought some garland swags might be a nice addition.

So I pulled out some buttons and some twine and made these garlands.

They are simple and easy to make and I love them. Just thread some twine on a needle and thread it through the button. Tie a knot behind each button to hold it in place. Continue threading the buttons on the twine.

They would look great on a mantle and a Christmas tree too.

Do you think I should have made a green garland too?

How cute is this button Christmas tree?! I had a bunch of buttons in my craft room and I used some pearl straight pins and just stuck them into a styrofoam cone.

As you can see in the photo below, I randomly placed the buttons on the cone.

Here are some of the hundreds of buttons I own. It’s funny as the only colors I have are white, black, red, green, and pink.

All of these Christmas button crafts are easy and could be made together with your children or grandchildren. How much fun is that?

  1. Maybe a green button garland would look nice, but you don’t want to overdo it.
