Amazon Prime Day is almost here, and I’m so excited to kick things off with the best early deals and a whole week of curated finds to help you shop smarter, not harder.

We just finished up a wonderful family week at the beach house. It was filled with laughter and so many new experiences. I’m eager to share it with you! Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun.

Let’s Talk About Amazon Prime Day!

Good morning, and happy Sunday! I hope you’re enjoying a relaxing start to your day with a warm cup of coffee in hand. Let’s start my Sunday Morning Coffee post with something fun, exciting, and maybe even a little bit dangerous if you love shopping as much as I do … Amazon Prime Day!

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

A young boy in a white t-shirt and shorts crouches barefoot on artificial grass, holding a mini golf flagpole. There are two flagpoles and some greenery in the background.

How We Made the Cutest 4th of July T-Shirt with Our Grandson’s Handprint

There’s nothing I love more than a meaningful, handmade project—and when it involves our two-year-old grandson, Graham, it instantly becomes a keepsake.

This year, for the 4th of July, we created the sweetest patriotic T-shirts using Graham’s handprint, and I honestly couldn’t love them more.

Not only were they easy to make, but they also turned out adorable, and we’ll treasure them for years to come.

A Handprint Flag That’s Full of Heart

White t-shirts with painted American flag designs, featuring red stripes and blue handprints for the stars, are laid out on a table.

The inspiration for this project was a fun twist on the American flag. We wanted to incorporate Graham’s handprint as the star field, turning it into something both personal and festive. With a bit of blue paint, some star stickers, and a few red stripes, we had our design planned out in no time.

What You’ll Need:

  • A plain white T-shirt (we used toddler and adult sizes)
  • Blue and red fabric paint
  • Foam stars or star stickers
  • A paintbrush or sponge
  • A small plate or tray for paint
  • Protective surface or cardboard insert for the shirt

How We Made It:

  1. Start with the Stars:
We placed small star stickers (you could also use star-shaped foam pieces dipped in paint) on the area where we planned to add the handprint. These acted as our “stars” on the flag. We arranged them in a cluster where the palm would go, creating that iconic blue star field.
  2. Add the Handprint:
Next came the fun part—Graham’s handprint! We carefully dipped his little hand in a plate with blue paint and gently pressed it over the stars on the left side of the shirt. The result? A beautiful, blue handprint with white stars peeking through (after you peel them off!), just like a mini American flag.
  3. Paint the Stripes:
Once the handprint was dry, I used a paintbrush to add four bold red stripes horizontally across the shirt, starting just to the right of the handprint. The imperfect lines gave it that charming, homemade look. If you prefer clean lines, painter’s tape works great as a guide.
  4. Let It Dry and Set:
We let the shirts dry completely overnight, and then heat set the paint according to the instructions (usually with a warm iron or dryer).

A Keepsake Worth Wearing

A woman helps a smiling young boy apply paint to a t-shirt on a table in a bright, modern room.

Making the shirts was a lot of fun, and surprisingly, it went well! The finished product made us smile from ear to ear. Graham was so proud of his “art project,” and everyone who saw the shirts commented on how creative and sweet they were. It’s one of those crafts that combines creativity, tradition, and love all in one.

A child is pressing a blue paint-covered hand onto a white T-shirt with the help of an adult; several blank T-shirts and supplies are on the table.
Ok, perhaps treats were necessary …

Whether you’re making these as a family activity, a keepsake for grandparents, or just a fun project for the holiday, I highly recommend it. These shirts made our 4th of July extra special—and I know we’ll be pulling them out again next year.

My Biggest Challenge This Week

Three men and a small child stand on a sandy beach near the ocean; one man holds a volleyball, another holds the child, and waves are visible in the background.

We just finished a wonderful family week at the beach, and I am so sad because it’s over.

The week passed way too quickly, but the memories will last forever.

We spent our days laughing, telling stories, cooking, grilling, playing at the beach, golfing, exercising, biking, mixing cocktails, eating homemade ice cream, and watching the fireworks on the deck on the 4th.

We celebrated that our family is growing (yay Michael and Ellie!), and we’re delighted that we’ll all be together again later this month.

Stay tuned.

This week's to do list.
  • Get the beach house ready for a weekend with girlfriends!
  • Play two rounds of golf, at least!
