How to Decorate for Spring

We have been in Waco for a few days and added some fun spring decor. I can’t wait to share tips about how to decorate for spring.

Since I haven’t been to our home in a year, I was excited to give the home a refresh with some color and florals.

How to Decorate Your Home

How to Decorate Your Home for Spring

I love decorating our home and decorating the Waco home for spring was very special this year.

I hadn’t been to Waco in over a year, so I wasn’t even sure how our home would look. Did it have a lot of wear and tear this past year? Would the decor look tired?

You might even say I prepared myself for the worst.

Planning Spring Decor

When I think of tips to decorate your home for spring, the process is very simple.

  1. Asses Your Home and Needs
  2. Shop Your Own Home
  3. Pick Your Color Palette
  4. Find the Right Accessories (spring florals, pillows, etc.)

Assess Your Home and Needs

The first thing I did was decide what our home needed to get it ready for Spring. The home was just fins as it is but if you know me, then you know I needed to make some changes.

I decided I wanted to do a light refresh. When your home is an Airbnb a guest doesn’t want clutter. The less the better.

I just needed something make the room look and feel like spring.

Shop Your Home

Before we went shopping we took a full inventory of any items in our home that we wanted to use. Apparently, I love vases because we had a ton of vases that we could use. We also decided to use the tissue paper flowered branches that I made over a year ago. They look great and the color was perfect.

Picking a Color Palette

I love picking a color when I am decorating a room with seasonal decor. It wasn’t hard to pick the color for Spring. I walked around our home and look for colors that were already featured. I found myself constantly looking at the color in the two abstract paintings I had painted for our home. I decided it made the best sense to feature the colors in the paintings for this Spring refresh.

So a pink-orange color was the choice!

Finding Spring Florals

On our first day in Waco we shopped the stores looking for some reasonable priced spring décor items.

The first thing we looked for is spring florals.

We bought florals at the Magnolia Market and at the Magnolia Little shop on Bosque. I love both of these stores. At the Little Shop the florals were all 50% off.

We even found the most perfect floral wreaths for the windows.

We found pillows at Marshall’s and World Market.

The pillows are subtle and I love them!

Even though the decor was minimal, the house looks so much better and brighter for spring.

Our home has an open floor plan with a living room, dining room, and kitchen that are all connected. By adding florals in each room, the area looks bright and cohesive.

It’s also just the right amount of decor. With a rental, you don’t want to overdue it. Actually, I kind of feel the same way about our home too.

  1. Hi Leslie. I’m enjoying your blog so much. I really love the style of this home, in Waco. The cream settee, is my favorite piece. I’m looking for something similar for our new home, in Chiatura, Georgia. I wanted to ask what the pretty pink buds are, in the vase, on the cover photo. They are just lovely.

    1. Hi Christina, thank you so much for reaching out and for your kind words. Here is a link to the cream settee if you want to check it out: https://amzn.to/2PSVcjC. I got the florals and matching wreaths at Magnolia last week. They are currently out of stock, but here is the link to them if you want to check on their status: https://shop.magnolia.com/collections/florals/products/dried-natural-platycarya-wreath and https://shop.magnolia.com/collections/florals/products/dried-platycarya-stem

    1. Happy Easter to you and your family Ivory! Shopping my home is one my favorite things to do! I move things around, change them up, it is so uch fun. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

  4. I always love reading your blogs. I’ve picked up so many great ideas from you. I absolutely love the colors of your abstract painting. When I saw it; I finally knew what I wanted my Spring/Summer color pallet to be. This has been a huge dilemma for me. I love to change up and freshen things in my home seasonally and sometimes my creative ideas just get a little stuck. Thank you and is it possible to purchase your painting?
