How to Decorate Your Home with Spring Decor

How to Decorate Your Home for Spring

I love our home in Waco. It is Airbnb’d (is that now a verb?) and booked year-round. It definitely has busy seasons, like the fall for Baylor football and Silobration, and May for graduation, but I must confess, spring is my favorite season in Waco.

One of the things that I think makes our Airbnb in Waco so special is that I decorate it as if I was living there full-time. All of the furniture is thoughtfully chosen and much of it was bought at Round Top Antiques Show. I also do a light seasonal update, as I did here with spring decor.

Here are my tips for adding/changing seasonal decor.

Planning Spring Decor

When I think of tips to decorate your home for spring, the process is very simple.

  1. Assess Your Home and Needs
  2. Shop Your Own Home
  3. Pick Your Color Palette
  4. Find the Right Accessories (spring florals, pillows, etc.)

Assess Your Home and Needs

The first thing I did was decide what our home needed to get it ready for Spring. The home was just fine as it is, but if you know me, then you know I needed to make some changes.

I decided I wanted to do a light refresh. When your home is an Airbnb a guest doesn’t want clutter. The less the better.

I just needed something to make the room look and feel like spring.

Shop Your Home

Before we went shopping we took a full inventory of any items in our home that we wanted to use. I found a lot of vases that we could use. We also decided to use the tissue paper cherry blossom branches that I made over a year ago. They look great and the color was perfect.

Picking a Color Palette

I love picking a color when I am decorating a room with seasonal decor. It wasn’t hard to pick the color for Spring. As I walked around our home and look for colors that were already featured, I found myself constantly looking at the color in the two abstract paintings I had painted for our home.

So a pink-orange color was the choice!

Finding Spring Decor Florals

We shopped the stores looking for some reasonably priced spring décor items.

The first thing we looked for was spring florals.

Magnolia Shops

We bought florals at the Magnolia Market and at the Magnolia Little shop on Bosque. I love both of these stores. The Little Shop on Bosque is where Magnolia began. It was Joanna’s first shop. I love to come to this shop and try to think about what Chip and Joanna’s lives must have been like back then.

The Little Shop on Bosque is now home to slightly damaged and last chance discount items. The florals that we chose were all 50% off. Be sure to visit the Magnolia Market first, when you show your Magnolia Market receipt at the Little Shop on Bosque, you get an extra discount.

We even found the most perfect floral wreaths for the windows.

We found pillows at Marshall’s and World Market.

The pillows are subtle and I love them!

Our home has an open floor plan with a living room, dining room, and kitchen that are all connected. By adding spring decor in each room, the area looks bright and cohesive.

It also feels like just the right amount of spring decor. With a rental, you don’t want to overdo it. Actually, I kind of feel the same way about our home too. What do you think?

I’m looking for something similar for our new home, in Chiatura, Georgia. I wanted to ask what the pretty pink buds are, in the vase, on the cover photo. They are just lovely.
