Embracing Change for the New Year

|

2021 is going to be all about embracing change. Together, let’s create some happy changes in our life.

Winter Kitchen Decor

Happy 2021. I have thought a lot about the new year and I know I want to do a lot of things differently. For me, this year is going to be about embracing change.

I want to make a lot of changes this year. Change that makes us happier. Change that makes us calmer. Change that we have control over.

Some will be major changes, but most will be subtle ones.

I would love it if you will join me to make subtle and happy changes in our lives.

Dining Room in Pink

You know how much I love to share my ideas about entertaining, decor, crafts, and recipes. Let’s use these ideas to make simple changes at home and in our lives.

I anticipate we will all be spending even more time at home in this new year. So why not make subtle, inexpensive changes in our homes to make them more comfortable, enjoyable, and provide a refreshing change we all need?

Let me share what I have in mind.

This year it’s all about home. It’s about making subtle and affordable changes in our homes and creating our own decor with inexpensive craft projects that look expensive. It’s about making subtle changes in our diets that make us feel better. And it’s about creating wonderful memories by entertaining at home in fun ways we never imagined.

Embracing change. That’s what we need to do.

Home Decor

New home decor

I have lots of ideas of how we can all have fun “re-invigorating” (I like that term better than redecorating) our homes.

We are going to move the furniture around in a room to make it feel different. We are going to repurpose and try some really fun things.

I already have two big changes (so far, hah!) planned this year.

We are going to re-invigorate our Carriage House in our backyard and turn it into a very fun space. (More on that later!)

We are also just starting a very large remodel project on our beach house in Ventura, Ca. We are currently in “plan check” and hope to be able to start construction in late March or early April.  I can’t wait to share the plans but I can tell you we are finally redoing the front of our beach home, adding two more bedrooms and baths, expanding the kitchen, family room, and master bedroom, and adding a third-floor deck!

Crafts

I would like to challenge some of you to try a craft project this year. Most of the crafts I create can be done by anyone. You don’t need to be creative and you don’t have to be an expert. You just need the right materials and a bit of patience.

I have a new blog format for my crafts. All projects will include a difficulty rating and a cost estimate. I am going to create items at all levels so you all feel that there are craft projects that you are comfortable making.

My craft projects are fairly easy to make, don’t cost a lot to make, yet look like they are expensive. They are all items you can use in your home and I think you are going to be blown away with the projects we have in mind for this year.

Entertaining

Party in the Backyard

Entertaining is creating a unique and magical experience for your guests. It does not mean you have to host a big party for 50 people.  Entertaining, can be just your family, on a Wednesday night, in the middle of the week.

Let’s face it. We are still going to be spending a lot of time at home this year. So let’s create magical evenings to enjoy at home all year long!

Recipes

Cranberry Orange Muffins

Delicious food always tastes better when it’s healthy.

I changed my diet six months ago and I am healthier, happier, and maybe even a little bit thinner. I cook differently and a lot healthier and I think the food tastes even better. One of my favorite recipes is these Cranberry Orange Scones. Next week I will be making a gluten-free version and I can’t wait.

If you aren’t interested in embracing change, don’t worry, I will include the original recipes but if they are healthier and taste just as good, then why not, right?

I have learned so much about healthy cooking and I cannot wait to share it with you this year.

One More Change

Sunday Morning Coffee

I want you to join me for Sunday Morning Coffee

Beginning this Sunday I am introducing a new weekly newsletter that is so different than anything I have done before.

Sunday Morning Coffee is all about my thoughts, things I love that I have learned from others, tips you will want to learn, and more.

The concept is to curl up with your coffee on a Sunday morning, take time for yourself, and spend time reading, not skimming. We all move at such a fast pace that this is a chance to take some time for yourself, to slow down and enjoy.

It’s going to be that good.

If you want to receive daily updates about my blog posts and Sunday Morning Coffee in your inbox, sign up here.

Thanks for being here and joining me as I share what I love the most. There are a lot more changes coming this year and I can’t wait to share.

You are all so awesome and amazing. Happy New Year!
