I loved creating these inexpensive spring floral arrangements using my vintage crocks and these gorgeous tulips from Trader Joe’s.

For years I have been collecting vintage crocks in many different shapes and sizes. I love to mix them and these tulips made for the perfect spring floral arrangements. Today I am happy that I arranged the gorgeous flowers in containers I love … vintage crocks!

Vintage Crock Spring Florals

I have been collecting crocks for a few years as I love them and use them to store everything. I have wooden spoons in crocks in my kitchen, fresh flowers in a large crock in our backyard, and lots of craft supplies in crocks in my craft room.

It’s fun to arrange flowers in vessels that aren’t vases. In the past, I have arranged flowers using vintage battery jars, a french vintage champagne crate, and vintage cheese molds. Today I am sharing how to use vintage crocks for your spring floral arrangements.

You. can find crocks on Etsy, at flea markets, and at antique stores. There are also some new ones that I absolutely love.

On this blog, I may sometimes use affiliate links, which means a small commission is earned if you purchase via the link. The price you pay will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link.

If you are not familiar with crocks, before the advent of refrigeration, crocks were used in American kitchens to store foodstuffs such as butter, salted meats, and pickled vegetables. The crocks were usually made of stoneware, a durable, economical ceramic that remains water-tight, even without a glaze.

I have also joined nineteen other bloggers who shared spring floral arrangements. Be sure to head to the bottom of this post to see their fabulous arrangements.

I am slightly obsessed with the smaller crocks and the large round ones that are only about 5″ high. They are different and I love them!

I didn’t have time for a trip to the flower market so I went to Trader Joes, which is the next best thing. Two dozen tulips were only $10 and the greenery was $2.99. I wanted to do at least four floral arrangements and spent $40 total for six dozen tulips and lots of eucalypti.

I also bought some daffodils and those will be shown later since I couldn’t get them to bloom in time.

It is important to cut the tulips to allow them to draw in as much water as possible. I cut the stems in different lengths, depending on the height of the crock.

I selected this crock first because it’s kind of “blemished” and I think it’s my favorite. I bought it for $5 and I am pretty sure the price was so low because it was covered in paint. With a bit of effort, I got most of the paint off of the outside but I didn’t spend too much time on the inside. It didn’t matter since the paint could hardly be seen when the crock was full of flowers.

Whenever I arrange flowers, I always start with the greenery. I filled this crock quite full with greenery. Filling the crock with eucalyptus also helps to hold the flowers upright.

Next, I started adding the freshly cut tulips. See how the eucalyptus helps hold the tulips upright?

I continued adding the flowers while turning the crock around to make sure the flowers looked great from all sides.

You can see the crock full of tulips in the photo below. It’s on the right side and yes, you can see a bit of the paint. But I love that!

The tulip-filled crocks are currently sitting on our family room table. I am considering breaking up the floral arrangement and putting them throughout our home. I can’t decide if I should do that or not as I kind of like them grouped.
