Today I am sharing a Spring Kitchen Tour in our Waco Airbnb. I even served a delicious light breakfast with my homemade blueberry muffins.
Welcome to my Spring kitchen tour of our Waco Airbnb. I styled our kitchen for a spring breakfast and I am sharing my favorite Blueberry Muffin recipe. I spent a year remodeling our Waco home and I love how it turned out. It’s such a wonderful home.
Wait until you see the before photos!
I know it’s not quite Spring yet. Especially in Waco where it is about five degrees!
But let’s stay inside where it is warm and enjoy some crazy remodel photos!
Two years ago we purchased a small home in Waco, Texas. We bought the home to fix up and rent as an Airbnb.
I thought I would share some of the photos of our kitchen remodel.
This is what our kitchen looked like when we bought our Waco home. It was in the middle of the left side of the house. And there was a water heater right in the middle of the kitchen.
I am not kidding …
We opened up the entire left side of the home and moved the kitchen to the back of the house. We also opened up the back and added ten feet to make room for the kitchen.
This is what it looked like before we added the ten feet.
You can see the new wood which is where we added to the back of the house. We also found matching vintage boards to match the ceiling and floorboards!
I added lots of windows to make sure the kitchen would be nice and bright.
I could tell early on in the construction that the kitchen was going to turn out even better than I had hoped.
We added shiplap and matching floor and ceiling boards and cabinets from Semi Handmade. They make beautiful cabinet fronts for IKEA bases. Click on my blog post to learn all about my SemitHandmade cabinets.
I love the vintage island I found at Round Top. You can see the thin wood top in the photo. I replaced it with a butcher block top!
I love the kitchen in our home so much. It’s light and open and the perfect place to cook and entertain.
I love adding decor to our Waco home so I set the island for a spring breakfast.
I found the plates at Marshall’s. They aren’t listed online but they were priced really well at a price under $10 for four melamine plates.
I also found the spring paper coffee cups from Rae Dunn. I love the pink drink sleeves.
I love these woven cotton placemats from World Market that I found.
All of the drinking glasses in our Airbnb (and in our home in California) are Ball jars. I love these jars and I think they make the best drinking glasses.
As I mentioned, our island is a vintage counter that I found at the Round Top Antique fair last spring. I replaced the thin worn wood top with an off-the-shelf butcher block counter that I found at the local hardware store. The island has two huge pull-out storage bins on the sink side that are great for storage! And the counter stools are from World Market.
The light green/blue/gray island was the inspiration for my simple decor. It seems that every time I look at our island it is a different color so I will continue to call it green/blue/gray. The plates are the perfect match for all three colors!
I found the Flower Market sign at Oh Sweet Sky. I love that I can pick a design and then choose my own colors and frame for my sign.
You know how much I love to add seasonal decor to a kitchen. I purchased both the vase and cake stand at the Magnolia Discount Shop on Bosque in Waco.
My Blueberry Muffin Recipe
One of my favorite breakfast treats to make are Blueberry Muffins. I have made this recipe since I was ten years old. It’s only four steps and really easy to make! You might want to make this with your kids. The best part is, of course, that they are so delicious.
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- two large cartons of fresh blueberries
- Preheat over to 400 and grease muffin tins.
- Using the two bowl method, mix the egg, milk, and oil in one bowl and the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in the other bowl.
- Combine both and add blueberries. Stir till lumpy.
- Bake 8 - 10 minutes.
Book Our Waco Home
I hope you enjoyed my spring kitchen tour.
I remodeled our home with the idea in mind that all of you just might stay there some day. We knew when we bought the home we would be renting it out to folks who want to visit Magnolia or Baylor.
Our home has three bedrooms (one master suite with a king, and two bedrooms with two queen beds in each room) and two bathrooms. The home is on half an acre and has a beautiful wrap around porch.
