Creating Christmas Traditions with the Cricut Maker
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
I love that my Cricut Maker helped me make a lot of really fun gifts for my son and his wife on their very first Christmas! I hope I might have created some new Christmas traditions for them as well.
The holidays are such a special time and I am so excited for my son Andrew and his new bride Charlotte who are celebrating their first Christmas as a married couple! I thought it might be fun to make them some special items for their new home that they can use over the holidays as they establish their own Christmas traditions. I used my Cricut Maker machine to make two different kinds of tree ornaments, a holiday pillow, coasters, and personalized stockings.
The materials I used with my Maker machine are paper, vinyl, Infusible Ink and Infusible Ink Coaster Blanks. The Cricut Maker quickly and accurately cuts over 300 hundred materials, from the most delicate paper (for my crepe paper flowers) and fabric to the tough stuff like matboard, leather, and basswood. #cricutcreated
I cut Premium Vinyl on my Cricut Maker and placed the vinyl lettering on a wood ornament.
I cut these ornaments on my Cricut Maker featuring photos from their wedding.
These coasters are made with Cricut Infusible Ink!
The tags for these stockings are made with Cricut Premium vinyl.
To make this pillow I used Cricut Iron-on vinyl material.
Ornaments
We have a lot of trees in our home for the holidays but my favorite is the fresh tree that has all of the ornaments we have collected over the years. One of our Christmas traditions is to buy an ornament whenever we travel. I have saved all of the kid’s ornaments they made when they were in grade school. We also have some funny ones that the boys made pertaining to their sports and a few ornaments that I made when I was very young.
I thought it would be fun to make a few ornaments for Andrew and Charlotte to hang on their tree.
I started out with a tree graphic I found on the Circut Design site and I modified it to include the names of Andrew, Charlotte, their dog Dug and their cat Mimi.
Vinyl Ornament
I cut out the design using Premium Vinyl and attached it to a wooden ornament I bought at JOANN.
I absolutely love how this came out.
Photo Paper Ornament
I also wanted to document Andrew and Charlotte’s wedding and make a few ornaments for their tree. I picked a few wedding photos featuring the bride and groom and their parents (hah!) and cut out circles in the Cricut Design program. It was easy to adjust the circles to match up with where I needed to cut the photos. I also added a score line down the middle of the photo with my Cricut Maker to make for easier folding. The Cricut Maker offers the widest range of tools for cutting, scoring, writing, and adding decorative effects – all so you can take on virtually any project you can imagine.
For each ornament, I cut out four circles, two of just the trees and sky and two photos from the wedding.
Next, I folded along the score lines, glued the four circles together, and attached a string to the inside for hanging.
I love how these came out and I even pressed open the circles to feature the photo sides of each ornament.
Infusible Ink Coasters
When I first learned of the new Cricut Infusible Ink I was very intrigued! It was a lot easier to use than I expected and it really is like a professional print job. The all-new Infusible Ink system delivers seamlessly smooth, professional-quality transfers that become one with your material – and last a lifetime. I decided to try the Round Coaster Blanks because the design really is permanent!
Cricut has a lot of nice colors of Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets (and pens too!) and I selected the Grayeige color as I am using a very neutral palette for these items. The first step is to cut out your design on the Infusible Ink paper.
Then you attach the design with the Cricut heat resistant tape and apply heat on the coaster.
Can you believe how adorable this is? Perhaps I should make them new Christmas coasters every year and start a new Christmas tradition?
Stocking Tags
I also purchased some grey and white knit stockings and personalized them with name tags. I used some old chalkboard tags I have had for years and painted them white.
Then I cut and added Premium Vinyl letters in the same font.
Pillows
I love Christmas pillows and I thought it would be fun to make one that matched. So I cut out the design using Cricut Iron-On Vinyl and transferred the design on to a pillow form Iwith my iron. Cricut has so many iron-on options. Every style, color, and pattern brings you beautiful cuts and lasting results.
It’s not hard to make personalized gifts for the holidays. I love that my Cricut Maker helped me make a lot of really fun gifts for my son and his wife on their very first Christmas! I hope I might have created some new Christmas traditions for them as well.
Love it all, you are very creative!!
Looks amazing! What is a Cricut Maker? Can you post a photo of the actual device and perhaps how it works?
Wow – those are all so cool Leslie! I love the new holiday traditions! 💗 💗 (Happy to find out who Dug & Mimi are too!) 🙂
