A Baby Sprinkle and Sunday Morning Coffee

A few weekends ago was one of those moments that quietly settles into your heart and stays there. We gathered to celebrate a Baby Sprinkle for my daughter-in-law, Charlotte.
I found myself smiling the entire day, not just because it was beautiful, but because it felt like a moment suspended between past and future. We also hosted a charity auction dinner, and I hosted some golfing girlfriends at the beach house. Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee, as I cannot wait to share all of this (and more) with you.

Season 6 Volume 8

About Me

A Baby Sprinkle for Charlotte

If you are wondering what a “Baby Sprinkle” is, I wondered the same thing at first. When I was having our boys, celebrations like this simply did not exist. We had baby showers, of course, but a Sprinkle is different.
It is softer, more intimate, and is focused on the joy of welcoming another little life into the family. In this case, it was especially meaningful because Charlotte and Andrew are expecting their first baby girl.
And yes, I will admit it, being surrounded by pink everything was pure joy.

There is something incredibly sweet about watching traditions evolve. As a mom, you remember your own pregnancies so vividly, and suddenly you find yourself standing in a room celebrating the next generation. It feels surreal and emotional in the very best way.

The Sprinkle was hosted by my daughter-in-law, Ellie, and Charlotte’s best friend, Amanda.
I was so touched that they asked for a little bit of my help, which allowed me to simply enjoy being part of the celebration and contribute in ways that felt meaningful.
I made embroidered cocktail napkins for the day, which was a wonderful way of adding love to the event. Handmade details always carry a story, and I love imagining these little pieces becoming part of family memories.
My sister Susie and I also teamed up to create thirteen flower arrangements for the Sprinkle.

We ordered pink flowers from Trader Joe’s ahead of time, which made the process so easy and surprisingly affordable. We worked with layers of pink roses, eucalyptus, and baby’s breath, and honestly, arranging flowers together felt like its own celebration. There is something incredibly special about working with flowers while anticipating a new baby. Every stem feels symbolic of something growing and new.
When we finished, the arrangements were soft and romantic, perfectly suited to the day. Seeing them placed throughout the room made me pause for a moment because it all felt so full of love.

The food was catered and absolutely incredible. The table was filled with beautiful dishes, delicious flavors, and thoughtful presentation, making everything feel festive without feeling overwhelming. Guests lingered, talked, laughed, and shared stories, and the entire afternoon had a gentle, joyful energy that you cannot plan but simply feel.
I wanted to mention that I bought my dress on Amazon. You can find it here.
One of my favorite moments was stepping back and just watching Charlotte. There is something so powerful about seeing someone you love step into motherhood. It brings back memories of your own journey while reminding you that every generation writes its own story.

As I looked around at the pink flowers, the laughter, and the warmth in the room, I realized how much these celebrations matter. They are not just about the baby, the details, or even the traditions. They are about gathering together to say, “We are here for you. You are loved. This new chapter is already surrounded by support.”
I left that day feeling grateful, emotional, and incredibly excited for what is ahead for our family. A baby girl is on the way, and our hearts are already full.

My Latest Project
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

One of my favorite parts of this past week was hosting three of my girlfriends at the beach house in Ventura. These are not just any friends. They are my golfing buddies, my cheerleaders, my partners in laughter, and the women who always remind me that fun is something we create together.
The weather decided not to cooperate. Cold temperatures and steady rain are not exactly what you picture when planning a beach getaway. But honestly, it did not matter one bit. We still laughed nonstop, shared stories, enjoyed long conversations, and embraced every moment together. Sometimes the best memories happen when things do not go exactly as planned.
We have a little motto among us. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. And yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. We love playing golf, but the truth is that we play because of the fun we have together. The golf itself is only part of it. It is the conversations, the encouragement, the ridiculous moments, and the shared experiences that make it so special.

Before they arrived, I decided to create something meaningful to mark our time together. I pulled out my Brother embroidery machine and started working on personalized tote bags for each of them. There is something so satisfying about turning a simple idea into something tangible and heartfelt.
I found the cutest golf cart design on Etsy, which felt perfect for us, and then added our motto using a font from my embroidery software, Embrilliance. Watching the design stitch out is always magical, but this project felt especially meaningful because it represented friendship, fun, and shared memories.

When the bags were finished, I honestly could not stop smiling. Aren’t they adorable? Each one felt like a little celebration of our friendship and the joy we find in spending time together. Handmade gifts always carry a little extra love, and I knew these would be something they could use and smile about long after the trip was over.
Even though the rain kept us indoors more than expected, it gave us more time to talk, laugh, and simply enjoy being together. Sometimes slowing down is exactly what you need.
As I look back on the week, I am reminded that creativity and friendship often go hand in hand. A simple embroidery project turned into a lasting memory, and a rainy beach trip turned into something unexpectedly perfect.
Because at the end of the day, whether we are crafting, golfing, or just sitting around talking, our motto says it best.
Girls just wanna have fun.

What Worked This Week

A Dinner With a Cause
In all my spare time last week, of which there was none, zilch, nada, we hosted a dinner party that has become one of my favorite traditions. Every year, Dave and I donate a private dinner experience to a charity auction, and this year, something extra special happened.
For the very first time, the winning bidders were actually our friends.
Hosting a dinner like this always feels meaningful because it combines two things I love so much: entertaining and giving back. But I have to admit, knowing our guests personally added a whole new level of excitement and anticipation. It made the evening feel even more personal and joyful.

We hosted eight guests, and as always, I dove into all of the details that make an evening feel memorable. I designed and printed custom napkins and place cards, arranged fresh flowers to create a beautiful table, and, of course, spent plenty of time in the kitchen preparing the menu.

There is something incredibly satisfying about seeing all of the elements come together after hours of planning and preparation. I designed my menus in Canva and printed the menus on my new favorite Canon printer.

And here is the best part. For the first time ever, Dave and I actually sat down and enjoyed the dinner alongside our guests. Usually, we find ourselves hovering, checking on dishes, refilling glasses, or quietly working behind the scenes. But this time, we allowed ourselves to fully experience the evening, and it made such a difference.
Was it a lot of work? Absolutely. Entertaining at this level always is. But the laughter, conversation, and shared purpose of the evening made every effort worthwhile.

Moments like these remind me why I love hosting so much. It is never just about the food or the décor. It is about connection, generosity, and creating memories around a table.
And honestly, I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
