Valentine’s Day Table for Two at Home
My husband and I never know what to do on Valentine’s Day. Then we finally figured out a great idea … Valentine’s Day table for two at home.
Don’t get me wrong, going out to a nice restaurant is great. But the craziness and crowds on Valentine’s day are not fun. A few years ago we agreed on a new plan. I would set a romantic table in our home and Dave would either make dinner or have something delivered. This is the perfect solution.
Isn’t this table just wonderful? Our table for two even has a view.
Dinner for Two at home
Valentine’s Day celebrations in our home have certainly changed over the years. In our early days of marriage, Dave and I went out for a romantic dinner at our favorite restaurant every year. We were much younger then as I don’t remember noticing any of the craziness of dining out on the day every other couple in the world is doing the same thing.
Then our oldest son was born.
On Valentine’s Day.
So for the next 18 years, we dined at home with ten or twenty of Andrew’s brothers and friends at his Valentine-themed-birthday-party-with-no-pink-or-red-or-hearts.
Yes, it was challenging.
And we did spend a few Valentine’s day dinners at Chucky Cheese.
Yikes.
But as he got older we tried to dine at restaurants again. But if we didn’t book a month in advance for a table of five then we were out of luck.
Can I just say … who remembers to book a table for five one month in advance?
Then Andrew went off to college and Dave and I went back to dining out. But it just wasn’t right.
So we started dining at home, just the two of us, at what we call our Valentine’s Table for Two at Home.
Each year, I find a fun place to dine.
Usually, it involves moving furniture and finding a totally unique place where we haven’t dined before.
Here are a few examples.
So this year we are going to dine at a table for two with a view.
Setting the Table for Two
I decided to mix pink and red for this Valentine’s Day table. So I pulled out my favorite items from C B Lifestyle. The pink and white plates are Ginori 1735 Oro Di Doccia. The napkin rings are Pearl Cluster Napkin rings. And here are the beautiful tall gold candlesticks.
The placemats, chargers, and napkins are linked below. So are the tall glass wine goblets. They are my favorite!
This setting is just so perfect for a romantic dinner for two. Did you see the scrabble tiles I used to leave my sweetie a message?

These crab cakes with lemon dill sauce are to die for. They aren't "fishy" and are by far the most popular appetizer anytime I make them.
This is the best Grilled Chicken with Pistachio Avocado Sauce – marinated in soy sauce, honey, and garlic and grilled to juicy, golden-brown perfection. Then topped with an amazing green pistachio and avocado sauce. So easy!
This recipe is one of those recipes that looks amazing, tastes amazing but was easy to make. This Seared Ahi with Maple ginger Soy Sauce is a crowd-pleaser for sure.
This recipe is my go-to recipe. It's delicious, healthy and easy to make.
This homemade butternut squash ravioli with sage brown butter sauce just melts in your mouth. It is probably the best pasta recipe I have ever made. It really is that good.
This berry pie is one of the most delicious and prettiest pies you will ever make. The crust recipe is courtesy of Chef Monique Chan.
This Meyer Lemon and raspberry Olive Oil cake is amazing. The combination of the sweet Meyer lemon with the raspberries and the Mascarpone cream is just fabulous. this dessert is a win-win for sure.
The cream custard, together with the pears and cranberries provides the perfet balance of just enough sweet to satisfy a sweet tooth and yet is subtle enough to have a slice alongside your morning coffee.
These Salted Caramel cupcakes are to die for. They taste a bit like a snickerdoodle and are filled with warm caramel inside.
