Stocking Stuffers for Christmas Morning

|

Today is Day Two of the Twelve Days of Getting Ready for Christmas. Christmas morning is my favorite, and we are sharing stocking stuffers today!

As kids, my siblings and I opened our stockings first thing every Christmas morning. I am so excited to share lots of wonderful stocking stuffer ideas today.

Christmas Morning Stockings

Stockings are a big Christmas tradition in our family, and although the boys are now grown, they still love opening their stockings on Christmas morning. Of course, my daughters-in-law Charlotte and Ellie also get stockings, and this will be our second Christmas with our grandson Graham!

I know Santa will be very busy filling all the stockings this year!

For today’s post, I have made lists of my favorite stocking stuffers for adults and kids of all ages!

Lots of Stockings

I made needlepoint Christmas stockings years ago when my boys were small. I never considered that the stockings were huge and took at least a year to make each one!

Stockings for Christmas Morning

Yes, they took a year. But that’s probably because I was pregnant with Michael (our youngest) when I started making them. Andrew and Matt were two and one years old, so I had my hands full.

I loved having a basket with my needlepoint sitting by the couch so I could pick it up at any time and add more stitches. I just never imagined how long needlepoint Christmas stockings would take to make.

The stockings seemed so big at the time compared to my small boys. When they were small, I needed many small gifts to fill those big stockings. Today, the gifts have gotten bigger, as have the boys.

I am almost done with Charlotte’s stocking and will start on Graham’s early next year! Then I need to make Ellie’s stocking.

The stockings below are in our primary bedroom. Every fireplace needs stockings, right? Of course, these don’t get filled on Christmas Eve like the ones downstairs in our living room. And there are more on the right with Matt’s and Ellie’s names on them.

The Best Stocking Stuffers

Today, I am sharing stocking stuffer ideas for moms, dads, toddlers, big kids, tweens, and teens. I also have them for beauty lovers, chefs, gifts under $10, gifts under $20,

You will surely find something for all of the kiddos in your life, whether you stuff a stocking or wrap a gift.

I am curious about the different ways stockings fit into your Christmas holiday. Do you celebrate with stockings? Does everyone in your family have a stocking, even your furry family members? Do you wrap your stocking gifts? Do you open them on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

I would love to know!

As you can see, I love stockings in my Christmas decor.

In addition to ideas for gifts that go into stockings, I am also sharing some of my favorite stockings. I’ve got you covered whether you use stockings for decor or filling!

  1. Leslie, you know what they say: the only difference between men and boys is the price of the toys! In your case could, either size…. This has been a wonderful idea y’all had on the 12 days of Christmas. I have enjoyed the post from you both.

  2. LESLIE, YOUR NEEDLEPOINT STOCKINGS ARE LOVELY. WHAT A WORK OF LOVE THEY WERE. AND DETERMINATION TOO. YOUR STITCHING IS BEAUTIFUL TOO. HAVING BEEN STUCK IN THE HOUSE FOR A YEAR, SO AFRAID OF THE COVID VIRUS, WITH NEARLY 200 BOOKS HERE AS I LOVE READING, AND MORE NEEDLEPOINT CANVASES OF FLOWERS SND BIRDS, ETC, INABLE TO READ OR NEEDLEPOINT, BECAUSE OF CATARACTS. I HAVE RECENTLE HAD SURGERY IN BOTH EYES, ONE AT A TIME OF COURSE, STILL USING DROPS IN EACH EYE BUT ON DIFFERENT SCHEDULE, HAVE BEEN ABLE TO START AND READ SEVERAL CHAPTERS OF NEVER COME BACK BY DAVID BELL, PRETTY GOOD, AND HAVE DONE SOME STITCHING. A MIRACLE FOR ME. YOU ARE INCREDIBLY TALENTED AND A GREAT MOM AND HOMEMAKER. MAY YOUR HOLIDAYS BE WONDERFUL. MARIANNE

  3. I am a needlepointer and am impressed that you made all three of those in one year. I know the time that goes into making those! Beautiful!!

  4. We still do stockings for our kids and grandkids. Everyone is always excited about their goodies! The rule we made was – you can get up any time you want and open your stockings but Mom and Dad get to sleep till 7:00am. Of course with all the giggling and squealing, whose really still sleeping? Our kids adopted this rule for their kids now!

    1. Oh I love this Rennee- it’s always so fun to hear other family Christmas traditions. And the 7 am rule sounds smart! 😂❤️

  5. After my kids became adults I thought I wouldn’t do stockings one year at Christmas. Man did I hear about it! They told me the best gifts always were in the stockings and how could I not have stockings!! Well needless to say I have always done stockings at Christmas after that. 😂

  6. We still have stockings and our kids are 50ish. One year I decided that everyone should participate in filling the
stockings. So they buy one thing for each stocking and it is such fun for all of us. Even my hubby buys for the
stockings. With new members joining the family I bought everyone a new stocking and we coordinate now.

  7. WOW – Your children’s stockings are absolutely incredible/beautiful and I (and I know your family) realize the time spent and love creating them. They will remain true treasures for many years to come. Such joy when you bring them out of ‘storage’ every year at Christmas. I am sure that you will continue to make more for your grandchild(s) and daughter-in-law(s) – not sure how because you are so busy but we always seem to find the time to do this. Thank you for sharing.

  8. Hi Leslie, those needlepoint stockings are absolutely incredible. I would love to start doing them for my family (I have a almost 2 year old now) Can you share where you bought the kit or where I can find something similar to recreate? Thank you 🙂

  9. Leslie,
Stockings remain a part of our Christmas morning family traditions. We save them as the last gift to open. Our “boys” are 51 and 48. They along with our sweet daughters-in-love and two young adult grands continue to enjoy the small surprises they find in their stocking each year. Thank you for all the ideas to make my shopping list fun and easy to purchase. As always you share the coolest ideas!
    Merry Christmas!

    1. I love that Becky! Never too old for a stocking. That sounds very special ❤️ you’re so welcome! Much more to come this holiday season!
