About Me
Here are some fun and practical ways to prepare for spring while staying cozy indoors.
Spring is Coming! How to Get Ready for Warmer Days and Fresh Blooms
1. Plan Your Spring Garden

One of the best parts of spring is seeing flowers bloom and greenery return. While it may be too cold to plant just yet, now is the perfect time to:
- Start seeds indoors with flowers like marigolds, zinnias, and petunias or vegetables like tomatoes and peppers that can be transplanted when the weather warms up.
- Whether you have a large backyard, raised beds, or a small balcony, map out your garden space.
- Order seeds and bulbs early to get your favorite flowers, vegetables, and herbs before they sell out.
I may sometimes use affiliate links on this blog, which means a small commission is earned if you purchase via the link. The price will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link.
2. Refresh Your Home for Spring

After months of winter hibernation, refreshing your home for spring can bring new energy and warmth into your space. Here’s how to start:
- Declutter and organize small areas, such as closets, entryways, and kitchen spaces, to make room for lighter spring décor.
- Swap out heavy winter throws and dark florals for pastel tones, fresh greens, and lightweight fabrics.
- Add potted tulips, daffodils, or a simple vase of eucalyptus to brighten your space and bring in fresh and faux flowers.
3. Start Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning isn’t just about dusting and scrubbing—it’s about creating a fresh start! Instead of waiting until warmer days, tackle indoor projects to enjoy spring outside later.
- Deep, clean, high-traffic areas like the entryway, kitchen, and bathrooms to create a fresh, welcoming space.
- Wash windows to remove winter grime and let in more natural light for a brighter home.
- Freshen your bedding by swapping heavy flannel sheets for breathable cotton or linen.
4. Plan Outdoor Gatherings & Activities

Spring means more time outside, so start planning now! Whether you love gardening, picnics, or hosting outdoor dinner parties, get a head start with these ideas:
- Prep your patio or balcony by cleaning outdoor furniture and adding string lights, fresh cushions, and cozy seating.
- Stock up on spring tableware like floral plates, pastel linens, and lightweight glasses for effortless entertaining.
- Plan a spring outing, such as a farmers’ market visit, a garden tour, or a picnic in the park to enjoy the season’s beauty.
5. Embrace the Mindset of Spring

Spring isn’t just about the weather—it’s a mindset! The season brings renewal, energy, and new beginnings, making it the perfect time to:
- Set fresh goals for health, home projects, or creativity, using the season to inspire a new start.
- Switch up your wardrobe by packing away heavy winter layers and incorporating breezy dresses, floral prints, and lightweight sweaters.
- Spend more time outside by taking daily walks, enjoying fresh air, and soaking up the longer days.

Even though winter still has its grip, spring is just around the corner, bringing sunshine, fresh flowers, and outdoor fun. Now is the perfect time to start planning, prepping, and dreaming about all the wonderful things spring offers.
How are you getting ready for warmer days and fresh blooms? Let me know in the comments!

My Latest Project

I am starting to think about refreshing and replanting my kitchen garden! I don’t pull everything out in the winter because some vegetables will continue to grow in multiple years. Plus, I am still finding new peppers and tomatoes growing every week.
Gotta love our climate. Did I mention that it is supposed to be 83 degrees here on Wednesday?
Last year i shared my gardening journey with these blog posts:

Here is what my garden currently looks like. Please don’t laugh, it’s not pretty, but it will look great soon!

Biennial Vegetables (Produce for Two Years Before Replanting)
There are some dead plants and ones that are thriving in our garden right now. Did you know there are biennial vegetables that have a two-year life cycle, often producing leaves in the first year and flowers/seeds in the second before dying off? These include carrots, leeks, beets, and Swiss chard.
My carrots and beets are thriving, and it’s only February.
Self-Seeding Annuals
While these aren’t true perennials, some vegetables—arugula, cilantro, lettuce, and parsley — will drop seeds and regrow naturally each year without needing to be replanted.

My Biggest Challenge This Week

Looks like I will be having foot surgery soon.
Having been through this before, I completely underestimated how vital your feet are to ENJOY DAILY LIFE.
Fortunately, this time around, it’s a lot less involved. I have a cyst on the top of my foot that is causing horrible pain and numbing, and surgery is, unfortunately, the best option. I should be back up and around in a few weeks, so prepare for more biking photos!
It looks like it will be scheduled in two or three weeks. I’m not sure I can stand the pain until then! Wish me luck.

- Thin out the four vegetable beds in my kitchen garden.
- Decide which Tomatomania events I will attend next month in Southern California. This is where I buy all of my tomato plants.
- Finish Charlotte’s stocking.
