A Little Bit About Me
Crossing Projects at Home Off My List!
It has been such an incredible week! I finished a lot of projects at home including organizing our new backyard shed, gardening, and finishing the remodel of the Carriage House.
I am sure you all have weeks where you feel like you didn’t get anything done and then others where you were incredibly productive.
This week was one of the productive weeks.
This project was way bigger than I thought because it included not only remodeling the Carriage house but also organizing all of the “stuff” that was being stored in it. Aargh!
I had a lot of questions yesterday from all of you about where the Carriage House was located. It’s actually in our back yard. It is original to the home and it is where they would store the carriage. The horses entered through the front doors, they would unhook the carriage and leave it there, and then the horses would exit out the back. How fun is that?
You can see how tall the ceiling is.
The view of the ceiling in the inside is pretty cool.
The remodel wasn’t too difficult. All we did was paint the inside, secure the windows and repair the sliding doors, remove the lighting and add our new chandelier from Lamps Plus.
Of course, the big project was finding a home for all of my decor stuff. I am not good about throwing things away so over a period of a month, I donated three truckloads of stuff. I know I could have sold it all but I am pretty sure this is a much better thing to do and raise money for the Salvation Army.
At Home
Furnishing the Carriage House
I mentioned that I bought this long white farmhouse table at Round Top. A friend brought it to California for me. I got the chairs there too and there is something about using mismatched chairs that I absolutely love. I used the same concept on the porch in our Waco home.
I bought the placemats, napkins, and chargers online. The pink plates are from Ikea and the chargers were from Pier One.

This is the side view of the Carriage House, I just did a major overhaul of this garden this past week but I still have to replant the hanging pots. They look awful but the rest of the garden is coming along. I promise to share the completed garden soon!
It is Giveaway Time
I have an awesome Mother’s Day Giveaway today.
And guess what, Sport is back in the dining room! Why is that?
Whenever anyone comes to our house they always ask, “Why are all of the dining room doors closed?”
The truth is, we have a beautiful new rug and I don’t want to ruin it with spills or pet accidents. So the doors have been closed and we really haven’t used our dining room much, other than admiring it through the french doors!
My worries are over because I am now the owner of a Hoover SmartWash Pet Complete Automatic Carpet Cleaner. It has powerful deep cleaning and it is as easy as vacuuming. It even has a spot chaser wand that targets the toughest stains.
Sport and I have teamed up with Hoover for Mother’s Day Giveaway!
We are giving away a Smartwash Pet Automatic Carpet Cleaner plus the Concentrated Cleaning Formula, Spot Chaser and Deep Clean and Neutralizer.
So how can you win this amazing Carpet Cleaner?
At 9:00 am PST today, all you have to do is head to my Instagram and follow both @hoover and me @my100yearoldhome. Leave a comment on my Instagram post about the giveaway (which will go live at 9:00am) letting us know the name of your pet (or pets) that make you smile every day! The contest is valid in the USA only. The contest ends at 9:00am PST on April 28th. The winner will be notified by me on April 29th at 9:00am PST so you can receive your new Smartwash in time for Mother’s Day!
Mom’s need ways to make their lives easier and I am so excited that one of you will get this for Mother’s Day!
Reflections on the Week
What a fun and crazy week! I shared lots of DIY’s (my theme for the month!) and you are were so supportive. The colorful tablescape and Milk Paint cabinet were very fun DIYs. I loved sharing how I make our artichokes. I also shared how I got our back porch ready for spring and some very fin terracotta pots decoupaged with napkins. Lastly, I shared the Carriage House Reveal. This makes me tired just writing this!

What’s Ahead
Next week is going to be so much fun! I am teaming up with my dear friend KariAnne from Thistlewood, and we are going to do a Spring Refresh in five different rooms. But guess what? We are each highlighting only one new item in each room. The items can easily be found online and I can’t wait to share. I am also sharing a new mattress that we love. It’s for one of the two new bedrooms we are adding to the beach house. Did I mention that Sports seems to think the new mattress is his? And, I will be sharing the new garden I planted in our back yard.

Good Things From Martha
In honor of the Academy Awards that are tonight, Martha Stewart shared 23 Recipe Ideas Inspired by Our Favorite Movies. I thought this might be fun to share.
Which movie and recipe would you share?
I think I would make Chocolate Croissants in honor of the movie “It’s Complicated”.
