New Year Changes at My 100 Year Old Home

|

Happy New Year again! I am determined this year is going to be all about embracing change. Join me as I share happy changes at My 100 Year Old Home.

I want to do many things differently, and embracing change is the only way for that to happen. I have plans for this year so we can all be happier in everything we do. Some will be significant changes, but most will be subtle ones.

Embracing Change

Happy New Year 2022

Every ending is a new beginning; embrace change as an opportunity to grow and evolve.

I love this quote. It’s likely why I open my arms every New Year’s Day to embrace change. Hopefully, you saw my post yesterday about what matters in the new year.

I don’t usually make resolutions, instead I remind myself to embrace change all year.

You know how much I love sharing ideas about home decor, crafts, entertaining, and recipes. Let’s use these ideas to make simple changes at home and in our lives.

This year, it’s all about home. It’s about making subtle and affordable changes in our homes and creating decor with inexpensive craft projects that look expensive. It’s about making slight diet changes that make us feel better. And it’s about creating wonderful memories by entertaining at home in fun ways we never imagined.

Embracing change. That’s what we need to do. And here are some new and different things you can expect at My 100 Year Old Home this new year.

New Content

A bright kitchen with white cabinets, open shelves, and a farmhouse sink features decorative plates, glasses, and vases. Two baskets with dried flowers add a rustic touch, setting the perfect scene to welcome the New Year.

I have been working like crazy, and you will enjoy a lot of new content this year! The first two weeks of January are all new blog posts, and that trend will continue all year long.

Of course, there are some really great ideas I have to share again, but this is so exciting for you and me!

Home Decor

Summer Kitchen Refresh 10

I have many ideas about how we can all have fun “re-invigorating” our homes (I like that term better than redecorating).

I will be re-invigorating a few rooms in our home. We are going to repurpose and try some entertaining things.

I already have planned one significant change (so far, hah!) this year.

We will re-invigorate the third floor yet again and turn it into a more functional space. (More on that later!)

Recipes

Three recipes for protein bowls - salmon, beef and chicken. They are loaded with vegetables and nutrients.

Delicious food always tastes better when it’s healthy.

Why? Because everything tastes better when it’s guilt-free.

I changed my diet a year ago, and I am healthier, happier, and thirty-five pounds thinner. I cook differently, eat much healthier food, and I think the food tastes even better.

Text reads: "MY 100 YEAR OLD HOME | A HEALTHY OPTION" in gray font on a white background.

This year, all of my recipes will feature this logo and a Healthy Option for the recipe. I can’t wait to share how you can make healthy and delicious recipes!

Get ready for some fun and new recipes that twist the traditional ones we love. My first one is next week!

I may sometimes use affiliate links on this blog, which means a small commission is earned if you purchase via the link. The price will be the same whether you use the affiliate link or go directly to the vendor’s website using a non-affiliate link.

A Sourdough Journey

Glass container with sourdough starter and a glass lid with flowers nearby.

In February, I am starting a 12-week series titled A Sourdough Journey. We will begin with making a sourdough starter and continue making bread and other recipes. I can’t wait to share my journey, recipes, and favorite sourdough pizza dough. It’s so good!

Crafts

Oyster shells painted with green Christmas tree designs are arranged on a wooden surface.

I want to challenge you to try one of my craft projects this year. Most of the crafts I create can be made by anyone. You don’t need to be creative, and you don’t have to be an expert. You need the right materials and a bit of patience.

And I think you will be surprised how much you enjoy it!

I will try to make a new craft weekly, but realistically, three new monthly crafts are likely. I will also share some of my crafts from the previous year.

A well-organized craft room with wall-mounted storage units filled with supplies, a large work table, chairs, and a rolling office chair on a grey rug. Two pendant lights hang from the ceiling.

With my craft room, I have the space to manage multiple crafts simultaneously. How fun is that? I just need to rearrange things to be able to multi-task!

My craft projects are relatively easy to make and don’t cost much, yet they look expensive. They are all items you can use in your home, and I think you will be blown away by the projects I have in mind for this year.

Entertaining

The Art of Entertaining Outdoors

Entertaining is creating a unique and magical experience for your guests. It does not mean you must host a big party for 50 people.  Entertaining can be just your family on a weeknight in the middle of the week.

This year, I want to offer more creative and easy solutions for entertaining: casual dinners, potluck dinners, dinner clubs, and more.

I have created a monthly series called Let’s Celebrate! I will share the steps to create a fun monthly gathering, such as a game night, Galentine’s party, kids’ birthday party, bridal shower, baby shower, and more!

Here are some of my favorite items to use for entertaining.

A New Look on the Blog and Social Media

Things are going to start looking a bit different around here.

You might already notice some changes on the blog. (See the new banner above?) A new and better newsletter is coming. New Amazon items. And lots more.

If you follow me on Instagram, prepare for stories about my daily life. I am turning around the camera and sharing more about myself. Did you see the needlepoint I was making on my stories yesterday? And the ELF commercial that was filmed at our home? It was shown in every football game we watched!

This is going to be fun!

I have a new series to share on Instagram called How I Used What I Got. I will be sharing how I use things I have found on Amazon, and I’m starting next week with a few of the Christmas presents I received.

In April, I will be starting a weekly gardening series.

Plus, there is so much more to come!

I am excited and hope you will join me for this fun journey in 2025!
