Beach House Stuff

Not as much progress with the beach house remodel so I’m sharing my plans for the interior design of the house … aka the beach house stuff!

I am sharing all of my mood boards for the three floors in our home. You may remember I was considering modern farmhouse decor for our beach house. And yet I struggled so much creating the mood boards that I finally realized I didn’t want a modern-style farmhouse! So let’s take a peek at my beach house stuff!

Make it Pretty

Mood Boards and the Beach House Stuff

I will admit that I struggled for quite some time to find the right look and feel for our remodeled beach house. It wasn’t until I found this Instagram account, that I knew exactly the look and feel I wanted for the beach house.

I have no idea how I came across the account @alexisandraaustin but the minute I saw her house, I knew this was the style I wanted for our beach house.

You have to go to her account and follow her. You will love everything she does!

Once I knew the look I wanted for the house I started making decisions and working on plans for every room in the beach house. These mood boards should make it very clear what I have planned for our home.!

The Main Floor

The Main Living Area

I included two photos from Alexis’ living room just so you could see more of her amazing home. The second floor of our beach house is the main floor and the main living area is where we will likely spend a lot of time.

I already bought a new white slipcovered couch (from the PB outlet), we built a larger fireplace, and I have the new Frame TV. I just need to find some swivel chairs, a rug, and a coffee table.

You can see the color palette I selected for our home which is very neutral. I am going to add some sage green in a few places, and maybe some soft oranges and peaches in one of the bedrooms. We shall see!

The Kitchen

I selected these GE Cafe Matte White appliances over a year ago and I absolutely love them. The cabinets are all white and the two chandeliers over the island have already been delivered (you can see one of them in the photo). I bought my dining room table on Saturday at the Pottery Barn Outlet in Camarillo (pictured above) but I am still looking for chairs, and counter stools. Fortunately, we still have lots of time!

The Office/5th Bedroom

The main floor also has a 5th bedroom/office with a sleeper sofa and room for a desk. I am obsessed with this desk from Arhaus and I hope we can make it work. The chandelier is for the lower part of the staircase outside of the office. I still need to find a really large chandelier for the stairwell to the 3rd floor deck!

The Primary Suite

I am so excited about our primary suite. The biggest flaw in our beach house, before this remodel, was that you had to go through our bedroom to get to the deck. While it didn’t bother our family, it was always weird for our guests when we had to go through our bedroom to get to the outdoor dining!

Now we have a new deck on the 3rd floor and a wonderful primary suite. I love the rug, bed, and side table, which are all from Arhaus. The fabric is something I found and plan to make pillows for this room. I just love the look and feel of it.

Although I could include this fabric in the main living area. What do you think?

The First Floor

The 2nd Bedroom Suite (a new addition)

Moodboard Beach House Bunk Room

We added a new bedroom downstairs and it will have a king bed, a bathroom, and two built-in queen-sized bunks. Not only am I envisioning this for girls’ weekends but Dave has some golf weekends already planned. (According to him, the house has 8 beds, which is perfect for two foursomes.) Of course, someday we are hoping this will also be a great room for grandkids!

The built-in bunk beds will be unique and we even raised the height of the base of the shower so it also works as a bathtub. More about that later!

The Double Queen Bedroom

This bedroom had two queen beds which are great for two of my sons, a family with small kids, or lots of friends! I love the slip-covered bed and bedding shown here from Garnet Hill. The chandelier is from … you guessed it … the PB Outlet.

There is also a king bedded bedroom downstairs but I haven’t created a mood board for it. That is because I haven’t decided what I want to do there yet!

The Third Floor

The Third Floor Deck

I borrowed the furniture from our contractor’s office so we could have a cocktail on the deck this past weekend. Hehe.

We still have some work to do but I am very excited about furnishing the 3rd-floor deck.

We have three areas defined in the plan. this includes the outdoor kitchen, the dining area, and the seating area with the gas fire pit.

At this point, I am pretty sure we will be spending most of our time on the 3rd-floor deck. I think I will start with my morning coffee, then lunch, then happy hour, dinner, and of course a nightcap.

Need I say more?

I am really hoping we can use Arhaus furniture on the deck. I love the Arhaus outdoor furniture we have at our home and it would be perfect at the beach. We would like to use a round table and chairs because I think we can seat six to seven which would be great.

For the seating area, we are going to use a sectional and a gas firepit. I simply cannot wait to get this area completed. It certainly will be well used by our entire family.

      1. Leslie, I used your exact colors when I designed my new condo. I am not on the beach, but sprinkled seashells and sea glass through the living areas. The effect is calming, and restful. Can not wait to see your completed project!

  1. I love the design feel for your beach house Leslie! It is really beautiful and also will be a wonderful and relaxing home for your family and friends!!

  2. Its going to be amazing! So light and airy feeling, which is what a good beach house should feel like 😄 The soft color palette is going to be so soothing and relaxing.

  3. The color palette is perfect – soothing and inviting (and made to last)! I can’t wait to see it all come together!

  4. I am using the GE Cafe matte white appliances in my new house as well. Curious if you are painting your cabinets to match them? I am using SW Alabaster for my walls, but trying to decide if I want to use SW Rock Candy for cabinets, as it is a near perfect match with the appliances.

    1. Where did you say you were using the 2 chandeliers that you purchased in France on your antiquing trip? You said previously that you were purchasing them for your beach house.

  5. It’s going to look stunning…perfect colors, furniture. But as a home stager I would suggest nothing brand. I know it’s your home, your taste but on a professional level omit all brass and so with brushed bronze, brushed silver, matte black, classic white. The brass fixtures/lighting are outdating a new remodel. Just my opinion and in the end you are the one that should always love your home.
