An Exciting New Year at My 100 Year Old Home and Sunday Morning Coffee

There is something truly special about the beginning of a new year. The calendar feels fresh, the house is still cozy from the holidays, and there is a sense of possibility in the air.
At My 100 Year Old Home, a new year is never just about turning the page. It is about creativity, connection, and continuing to build a home filled with beauty, intention, and heart.

Season 6 Volume 1
Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun.

About Me

An Exciting New Year
This year feels especially exciting. After a season full of holiday gatherings, handmade traditions, and cozy moments, January brings a gentle pause and a chance to dream. I love this quieter time when the decorations are still glowing softly, the house feels calm, and I can reflect on what worked, what inspired me, and what I want to create next.
One thing that never changes is my love for making home a place that feels welcoming and lived in. Whether it is refreshing a room, setting a table for no reason, or starting a new creative project, my goal is always the same.

I want our home to feel comfortable, beautiful, and filled with joy. This year, you can expect even more ideas that are approachable and meaningful, projects that feel doable, and inspiration that fits real life.
Crafting will continue to be a big part of what I share. There is something so satisfying about making something with your hands, especially when it becomes part of your home or a gift for someone you love.
From seasonal decor and handmade gifts to creative experiments and simple DIY projects, I am excited to explore new ideas while staying true to the timeless, cozy style you know and love.

Entertaining is another place where my heart lives. Gathering around the table, whether it is for a casual family dinner or a festive celebration, is one of my favorite ways to create memories. This year, I will be sharing more recipes, entertaining tips, and table styling ideas that focus on ease, warmth, and making guests feel at home.
Of course, family remains at the center of everything. Our home is where life happens, from everyday moments to milestone celebrations with family and friends. I love sharing those stories with you because they remind me that home is not about perfection. It is about connection, tradition, and the people who fill the rooms with laughter.

As we step into this new year together, I hope My 100 Year Old Home continues to be a place where you feel inspired and encouraged. A place where creativity feels accessible, home feels comforting, and every season brings something to look forward to. Thank you for being here and for sharing this journey with me. I cannot wait to see what this year brings.

My Latest Project

The Start of My Craft Room Remodel
Every creative season seems to begin the same way for me, with a mix of excitement, overwhelm, and a long list of ideas. That is precisely where I am as I begin my craft room remodel. This space has always been the heart of my creativity, but over time, it became clear that it was no longer working the way I needed it to.
When I first moved my craft room to the third floor, I was thrilled. Having a dedicated space felt like a dream, and for a while it truly was. But as my projects evolved and my supplies multiplied, the room slowly became cluttered and inefficient. I found myself spending more time searching for materials than creating, which was my signal that something needed to change.
This remodel is not about making the room bigger or more elaborate. It is about making it smarter, more functional, and more inspiring. I want every drawer, shelf, and workstation to have a purpose. I want to walk into the room and feel energized, not overwhelmed.
The first step has been to take everything out and start fresh. It is messy and a little uncomfortable, but also incredibly freeing. As I sort through supplies, I keep what I genuinely use and love, and let go of what no longer serves my creative process.
And next is the furniture assembly.
This is just the beginning, but I already feel excited about what this space will become. A craft room that supports creativity, encourages experimentation, and makes creating feel joyful again.

What Worked This Week

For the past few months, I have been quietly keeping a list. It is not a to-do list or a list of goals that feels burdensome. Instead, it is a list of things I genuinely want to learn more about this year.
Creative skills that have been calling my name. Tools I already own but want to use better. Ideas that feel exciting rather than overwhelming.

At the top of my list is my Cricut. I use it often, but I know I have barely scratched the surface of what it can do. This year, I want to slow down and really learn how to design with intention, explore more materials, and create projects that feel polished and personal. I want my Cricut projects to move beyond quick cuts and become thoughtful pieces that fit beautifully into my home and gifting.

Next is my Brother PE-770 embroidery machine. I love embroidery, both by hand and by machine, but I want to feel truly confident using this machine. I want to understand the settings, the files, and the small details that make a big difference in the final result. My goal is to design and stitch pieces that feel custom and heirloom worthy, whether they are linens, gifts, or special keepsakes.
I should probably mention that I seem to have lost the power cord for the machine. (I guess it has been a while since I have used it!) That arrives today, so I should be ready to go!

Learning more about laser cutting is another big focus for me this year. Laser cutters open up an entirely new world of creative possibilities, from wood and acrylic projects to personalized decor and signage. I am excited to experiment, learn, and gradually build confidence with this tool. It feels like the perfect blend of technology and craftsmanship, which I love.
I also want to improve my skills in Canva. It has become such an essential tool for creating graphics, printables, and designs, yet I know I can use it more efficiently and creatively. I want to learn to design layouts that feel cohesive and on-brand while saving time and working smarter.
Finally, I am determined to master Procreate design on my iPad. This is the skill that excites me the most. I love the freedom of drawing digitally, sketching ideas, and turning them into designs that can be used across so many projects. From artwork and patterns to embroidery files and printable designs, Procreate serves as the foundation for many creative paths.
What I love most about this list is that it is not about being perfect or becoming an expert overnight. It is about curiosity and growth. It is about allowing myself to learn, experiment, and enjoy the process. This year, I want my creative journey to feel playful, intentional, and deeply satisfying.
