A Busy Week at the Ventura Beach House and Sunday Morning Coffee

| | | | |

It has been a crazy week at the Ventura Beach House! We are moved in (and starting to decorate) and are now managing the finishing projects.

I want to pinch myself that the Ventura beach house project is almost done! It is turning out exactly how I pictured it in my mind, maybe even a little bit better! Maryliz took this photo of Dave and me testing out the new chairs in the primary bedroom. Something tells me we will be spending a lot of time in these chairs soaking up the view!

This picture was taken on moving day at the Ventura beach house. We were so excited to get our bedroom set up and decided it was time to enjoy the view in our new Pottery Barn glider chairs.

Thanks for joining me for Sunday Morning Coffee. This is a place to share, learn, explain, dream, and have fun. Let’s get started!

About Me

The Family Living Area

Living area of the newly remodeled beach house with fireplace, TV, coffee table, rug and white sofa.

It really was a crazy week at the Ventura beach house. I spent three days in Ventura but had to drive back and forth since there were a lot of people still working in our home!

Yesterday I shared photos of our kitchen. We moved in but I haven’t been able to start decorating. I am hoping to start on that today which would be amazing.

The family living area is where we will be spending a lot of time and I cannot wait. Shopping at the Pottery Bearn Outlet was where I found the rug, couch, and dining table.

I bought the Frame TV on Amazon and if you compare the photo above and the one below, you can see how dramatic the TV is! I chose the gorgeous blue photo art from the free selections and it looks amazing!

New mantle, fireplace, and FrameTV in the family living are of our newly remodeled beach house.

There is a cable coming through the wall just above the mantle for our Sonos sound bar. Tomorrow I will install that since the mantle has been finally painted.

See all of the art boxes on the left next to the staircase. Those are abstract paintings I painted for the beach house nine years ago when I chose an aqua color palette. I don’t know if I will use any of these paintings in our house. I will decide later today!

My goal today is to get the living area cleaned up, put away, and decorated! I still have some items I need but I am getting close to finishing this room.

My Latest Project

My Latest Project

The Office/5th Bedroom

Office and fifth bedroom at the beach house with window, new rug, wood desk and chair, frame TV, and sleeper sofa.

This area used to be our primary bedroom and now it’s an office and/or a fifth bedroom. I added a Loloi rug and a desk from the Pottery Barn Outlet. There is another frame tv on the wall and it is a 43″ screen.

I found another fun work of art for our frame TV that looks great in the room.

New office in our brach house with rug, wood desk, white sofa bed.

The drapes and brass-colored curtain rods have arrived and I am waiting on a new khaki-colored slipcover for our sofa bed. It’s going to look so great in here when we add decor too!

The Front Exterior

Front walkway at the beach house with new concrete pads, landscaping, and front doors (hidden behind paper).

We have accomplished a lot this week with the exterior too. The wood fence is done and hopefully, the gates will be finished early this week. The concrete was poured (we love it), and the landscaping is in!

The front door is also new and we will be revealing that soon. It is wonderful. I found the exterior lights on Amazon.

    My Biggest Challenge This Week

New beach house remodel living are and kitchen. White couch with pillow with white kitchen with white tile, quarts island, appliances, wood table and white cabinets.

There is no doubt my biggest challenge this week was the big mistake I made ordering my appliances. I ordered the wrong size refrigerator (see photo above) and didn’t check the appliances within 48 hours of delivery.

The dishwasher was damaged and doesn’t work and as of now I am out of luck and cannot return either of them.

If you ever order appliances, make sure that you check them carefully within the time frame required by the vendor. Don’t make the mistake I made!

    1. Congratulations Leslie on the completion of your dream beach home. It is so great to read that it is as beautiful as you had envisioned. You and Dave look so relaxed as you take in the beautiful view. Wishing you many years of joy and happiness in your beach home.

    2. Can you if possible tell me how much you paired for your pottery barn dining table and chairs? I went to look for one and the sales lady told me they do not get very many tables in. I guess I will need to go several times before I will purchase. I love the one you have!!!!!

    3. The beach house is beyond fabulous! Please post all your progress the next few weeks so we can all be there vicariously. As for the refrigerator and dishwasher — you should involve manufacturer (and whoever sold them to you needs to speak on your behalf). When we did our remodel, our Viking refrigerator (which sat for months in our garage) had been damaged in shipping, which we did not know until it was unboxed. Our appliance person was able to get it replaced and even got us a loaner while we endured supply chain delays. Then the replacement didn’t work so we’re actually on our third one! She got the manufacturer’s attention and they even call me periodically to make sure we’re satisfied. I never raised my voice — just got a little (uncharacteristically for me) assertive .You spent a ton of money on those items and they should help you get the right products, ESPECIALLY with all the advertising they’re getting with all your followers! You go, girl!

    4. Truly incredible job on your Beach House. I know once you have decorated it will sing with the joy of your personal touch. I look forward to seeing more.

    5. Leslie, I had to chuckle at ‘why do we have 3 boxes of Rumikub?’!!!
On our last move I unpacked 3 boxes of UNO (card game); had to have
      another one ‘just in case’.
      Lovely home – enjoy

    6. Welcome to Ventura! I found your blog because I was looking for ideas on Pinterest to make Valentine cards. I’ll be getting out my paints to try your watercolor designs. Imagine my surprise to see your blogs on moving to Ventura — where I live! I look forward to seeing your progress on the beach house. I like your style, and look forward to perusing your past blogs. Thanks for the tip on the Pottery Barn Outlet. I didn’t even know that it was here in our area — and I am an avid Tuesday Morning/Home Goods shopper. I’ve been occupied with other things the past few months so I guess I’m off my game! You might want to check out the RESTORE (by Habitat for Humanity). It’s a mixed bag of used furniture and everything from old windows to the kitchen sink (literally). I have scored some things I love, like an Ethan Allen recliner in pristine shape…for $50! Happy hunting for your beachy treasures!

      1. Hi Kim! Oh thank you- we’ve had the house for almost a decade now as a vacation home but have just remodeled in the last year; Ventura is the best 😍 Love that! Sounds like a fantastic find- I’ll have to check it out!
