Spring Decor Ideas
I love thinking about spring decor ideas. Although with the weather in Southern California it is hard to know if it is spring or winter.
Given the cold temperatures today, I might share winter decor ideas tomorrow. Who knows! The temperature can be in the eighties one day or the forties the next day. Just know that if I seem a bit confused about my current decor it is because I am!
You might remember in early January I changed up our house a bit with some wonderful blues and greens and labeled it as my Winter decor.
I put together some pretty fun blog posts about my new winter decor. I just love the blues and greens in our home!
But now that spring is here, well at least some days it is, I don’t want to let go of the winter decor.
I chose blue and green to start out the year and I love how our home looks!
So instead of replacing it, I am going to add to it.
With a very new fun color … purple.
Now, there won’t be a lot of purple in our home. Rather, you might see some subtle changes with flowers or a pillow or a plate on one of my tables.
Very Peri
Some of you may know that Pantone named their color of the year Very Peri. Which is a cute name for Periwinkle.
By coincidence, or perhaps this was a subliminal thing, I decided to add purple to my winter decor for spring.
The color purple, or Very Peri (if I am trying to be more trendy), was actually inspired by some plaid plates I found at Hobby Lobby.
I bought the plaid plates, added some periwinkle (aka kinda purple), and now I have a new spring decor palette.
And I love it.
Adding Color to Your Home
I have always changed up my color palette in our home by adding new accessories. Items like pillows, art, throws, vases, flowers, and table/shelf decor items (which include items like books, clocks, glass items, and fillers).
I do this because it is inexpensive and easy to do. Except that you need a place to store the items when not in use. I don’t sell or recycle these decor items because I use them over and over again. It’s so much cheaper that way.
There are some great color palettes that you can consider when it comes to changing your decor with
What other colors could I have added with blue and green?
Maybe orange, pink, tan, or brown. Perhaps even black.
Last Years Spring Decor
Last year I started out the winter season with lots of pink decor.
Once again, I changed out the pillows and florals.
And some glassware if you look on both tables.
When spring arrived, I decided to add orange to my decor.
All it took was some art (which was my own so it was free) and a vase and some flowers.
The art below is actually on my Samsung Frame TV. That is also what I call free art.
Can you see how much different (and in my mind, a lot better) the room looks with the addition of orange in the spring color palette?
Of course, I had to make a few pillows to bring the orange into our living room. With a quick change of the faux flowers, the new color palette was complete.

There’s no confusion in the foothills of the Rockies about what season it is. It is 0F as I write this at 6 a.m., our high today is supposed to be 10F and the ground is covered with snow. I’m definitely still in winter mode and all of the winter greens still look appropriate in our decor here. So glad I’m not a blogger who needs to look ahead and try to keep up with the seasonal changes, but hats off to those of you who must!
It’s definitely a challenge! Keeps things interesting!
More great ideas! I never get tired of looking at your blog. Thank you.
Oh you are so sweet! Thanks!
Where did you purchase your table?
It is from a flea market!
