Ideas for Christmas Dinner
I love hosting Christmas dinners in our home. In the next few weeks, I will be sharing a lot of ideas for Christmas Dinner.
This Christmas season we will all be together as a family. I am so excited I can hardly stand it.
I have planned five Christmas dinners at our home. Each one is going to be different (I know you aren’t surprised) and I cannot wait.
I have already shared some ideas for Christmas Dinner. You might remember the Silver and Gold Holiday Dinner, the Nutcracker Dinner, a Grilled Holiday Dinner, and a Christmas Dinner with a Music Theme.
Today I am so excited to share my latest holiday dinner. I can’t wait to find out what you think.
My daughter in law Charlotte and my son Andrew have been here for a week and Char and I had some fun planning for the holidays.
We created this dinner in our dining room so that we could showcase the newest place cards!
Charlotte and I designed these “gift box personalized place cards“. I absolutely love them!
They are made out of red cardstock and approximately 4″ wide. I love that they can be personalized and they are so cute!
You can order these from Charlotte on her Etsy site.
I did want to mention that Charlotte is going on vacation for the holidays on December 10th. You must order your cards before then but quantities are limited. Don’t wait until the last minute because it is likely she will sell out.
I can’t wait to use these place cards during the holiday season for all of our family dinners.
A Casual Christmas Dinner
I wanted to set an informal table because I know there will be a few casual Christmas dinners I will be hosting in December.
I used my rattan placemats from Ikea. My red chargers are from Amazon, the Christmas dinner plates are vintage, and my new salad plates are from Hearth and Hand at Target.
The red napkins are from JCPenney and the crocks and candlesticks are vintage. The green water and wine glasses are actually plastic and they are from The Home Depot. All of the holiday greenery is from JOANN.
I love designing table scapes and this one was a lot of fun. I love a casual and simple table and using items I already own.
By now you have probably realized that I love to hang wreaths in windows. In about a week, I will have about thirty wreaths hanging from all of our windows.
These wreaths are from JOANN.
Have you ever used anything other than a vase for your centerpieces? I rarely use vases for my centerpieces. Instead, I use crocks, vintage tins, glass battery jars, mason jars, other jars, and anything that might closely resemble a vase that’s not a vase.
I wrote a blog post about my obsession with vintage ceramic crocks. I can’t even explain why I like them so much but they are the best!
So what do you think about these place cards?
They are the cutest. I kind of want to use them as gift tags too!

Don’t you have COVID 19 rules in place requiring all gatherings to be held outdoors? Given the current rise in cases, I’d love to see more ideas for safe celebrations.
You can set the outside table exactly like the inside table, if you want an outdoor setting to make you “feel” safe—just add heaters (and may some Kleenex) in case of cold weather, outdoor fans in case of heat, or umbrellas and galoshes in case of rain.
Dianna,
We have a wonderful back patio with a cover, fireplace, and heaters. Since it’s only six of us, and it’s our immediate family we can also dine indoors. We will be together for a month. When my two sons come home they will quarantine at our home in Ventura for a week before coming home.

Patricia,
We actually now have a stay at home order. Our “family” is only my husband and me, our three sons, and my daughter in law. The “stay at home” order includes immediate family only so we are ok! Thank heavens.
Leslie
So lovely. I adore the crocks and the greenery with red berries.
Thanks Carole! I just shopped my house to create this table!

Do you know the name of the pattern of your vintage plates?
Your table is lovely. However, with an arrangement as tall as the one you have in your crock, how can your guests see each other across the table?
Mary,
The crock and flowers are only about 11″ tall. With everyone in our family being 5’11’ to 6’7″ tall, we can get a way with thee height! Haha.
Leslie
I think it’s absolutely lovely and fun!

Have a wonderful holiday with your family.
