How to Decorate Your Home with Outdoor Fall Decor

Fall is officially here and it is time to decorate your porch with outdoor fall decor. I love fall pumpkins and fall pillows and these colors are so much fun!

By now you have probably figured out my fall colors palette. I am still in love with the orange and pink combination and well, this just looks so amazing on our back porch. So it’s official. Pink and orange are the heart of my fall colors palette.

It helps that most of the fall decor I have collected over the years just happens to have these colors intermixed. Let’s pretend that it was intentional, ok?

When it comes to outdoor fall decor, most people decorate their front porch.

Not me!

I always decorate our back porch first. It may seem silly but here is the thing. Our back porch is an extension of our family room and it really needs to be decorated with outdoor fall decor. That way when we are enjoying both areas there isn’t a stark contrast!

Today I joined ten other bloggers as we are sharing our outdoor fall decor. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post for lots of great ideas.

I am such a good shopper and most everything on this porch came from one of two places … Balsam Hill or Amazon. I did a wonderful collaboration with Balsam Hill two years ago and this wreath and beautiful plant filler (in the terracotta pot above) are both from there.

You need to be sure to head to their site because I just checked and they have a lot of beautiful fall decor items on sale! I love that the Balsam Hill decor is gorgeous, never goes out of style, and lasts forever. Plus, nobody has decor prettier than Balsam Hill.

The bright floral pillows were made by yours truly. I started with an off-white IKEA pillow cover and painted them. Then I added free-motion stitch embroidery. It’s kind of a funny story because I thought it would be fun to make some fall pillows from the floral fabric and also make my own hand-painted ones. But it turns out the painted ones look so much like the fabric I bought that you really can’t tell the difference. The striped pillows are from TJ Maxx/Home Goods.

The outdoor furniture on our back porch and patio is from Arhaus. It is from the Hamptons Collection.

One of the things that work so well with my pink and orange fall colors palette is copper. The copper lanterns are my favorite and I love how they work both indoors and out. I was very tempted to add a lot more copper accents but I decided to see them for the dining table, which I hope to be sharing that next week.

See the shelves hanging on the lattice? I hung these rope and wood shelves years ago on our back porch and they are such a fun way to add decor and color. Of course, I am hesitant about hanging anything too heavy or valuable for fear a strong wind might cause a problem. But since that has never happened I should probably rethink that! The leaves and apples are from Amazon (see below) and they make wonderful decor accents in any room.

I love the arrangement on the green vintage trunk. The vase is actually a cheese mold and they are some of my favorites. I have orange and red pomegranates all over my house this time of year. It’s great that I bought them last year and they are even more amazing than I remember!

I love that Sport was out on the lawn enjoying the sun (and the 100 degrees on the First Day of fall) watching me as I was taking photos. He loves anytime he can be featured in one of my photos. Tee hee.
