Holiday Housewalk Dining Room Tour

I am thrilled to be a part of the Holiday Housewalk this season. It is a pleasure to share how I have added holiday decor to our dining room.

As you can see, I am sharing our dining room and the decor that provides a festive and happy room for lots of holiday family dinners. We will dine more in this room for the holidays more than any other time of the year and I love it. I added wreaths on the windows, a Christmas tree, tall centerpieces, and bows on the chairs to make this a festive dining room.

You may recall a previous post from last month when I shared a DIY project to make my homemade placemats featuring Christmas carol lyrics.  I used my Cricut machine and cut heat transfer material with my favorite lyrics from Christmas carols. I then ironed the lyrics on to these placemats. Aren’t these fun? I fully expect lots of singing at the dinner table when I use these placemats this holiday season.

My Christmas china is from Spode International and the pattern is Christmas Tree Gold.  The napkin ties are clay ornaments I made using a Christmas tree cookie cutter. I made them out of air-dry clay and they are about the easiest DIY ever. You can find the DIY blog post here. The Ho Ho Ho sign is from Oh Sweek Sky. Isn’t it wonderful?

I also added fresh greens on the back of each chair. I just cut some fresh cedar branches and tied them to the chairs with a bow.

I am smitten with vintage Christmas bulbs and there are a lot of them throughout our home. I love how they look in this bread bowl.

“Ring a ling, hear them ring, soon it will be Christmas day.” Isn’t that the truth?

How to Hang Wreaths in Your Windows

I have two different ways I hang wreaths in my windows. The first is with a ribbon. Sometimes you have a window that needs a ribbon to hang a wreath. That happened in our home in Waco. You can see how I use a ribbon to hang a wreath here.

I have hung wreaths in our home in California for so many years. The second method I use is a nail! I place a 1 1/2″ nail on the wood window frame and hang my wreaths from the nail. I also leave the nails up year-round and they are not noticeable at all!

I think I need to add some red ribbon to my tree. What do you think?

Our dining room seats eight comfortably but I can make a square table and seat sixteen. It’s great to have the flexibility to seat as many people as needed. All I know is that we will always have a seat for family and friends during the holidays,
