My Favorite DIY Painting Projects
One of my favorite DIY painting projects is this milk paint coffee table. I painted a dark wooden chest with Old Barn milk paint and then added a vintage ceiling tin on top. I absolutely loved how it turned out and was the first of many more milk paint projects.
A lot of people have asked what is milk paint? Milk paint is an environmentally friendly paint made from simple, 100% natural ingredients like clay, milk protein and lime—and its water-based. Milk paint is a non-toxic water-based paint and is commonly sold in the powder form.
I love how the milk paint naturally dries in a chippy way. If you want a project to look like it was painted a hundred years ago, then milk paint is what you need to use.

This was my first project using Old Barn milk paint and as I mentioned, there have been many since then.
This milk painted cabinet DIY was an unbelievable transformation. You have to see what this cabinet originally looked like! Everyone thought I was crazy when I bought this cabinet. It was so ugly! But boy does it look great now.
This is another trunk I painted with milk paint.
And here is another cabinet I painted with milk paint!
I have one more milk paint project to complete. About a month ago, I bought two queen size beds that are dark wood. I originally wanted the white chippy ones but they were sold out. The dark wood beds were 75% off and I knew I could refinish them with milk paint. They are for the Waco fixer-upper home and I cannot wait to tackle this project!
Today I have teamed up with some of my favorite bloggers to share some of our favorite DIY painting projects. Obviously, I am partial to milk paint. But I can’t wait to share these projects with you.
Look at this cabinet Janine from Happy Happy Nester painted using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
Brendt from She Gave It a Go painted all of her kitchen cabinets herself! What a huge undertaking!
Krista painted this dresser with white chalk paint. I love how she achieved this distressed look!
Ashley has a great blog post about how to paint your front door in one afternoon.
I hope these DIY painting projects have inspired you to paint something! And seriously, if you haven’t painted with milk paint, you have to give it a try!
I love all of your milk paint projects!! Working up the courage to paint my small kitchen cabinets!! I am not crafty at all but you make it look like a breeze…lol
These are great projects. I have never worked with milk paint. I’m a chalk paint and wax or glaze girl.
The transformations are wonderful.
Enjoy your weekend

I just used chalk paint for the first time. How can I protect the white paint without turning it yellow? Please advice.
You are amazing friend! I’ve not really used milk paint that much—but you have inspired me!
Thank you so much for sharing all your projects!
happy day!
