DIY Christmas Ornament
Today I have joined some bloggers to share our favorite DIY Christmas ornament. These were easy to make and so sparkly!
These were made with airdry clay and cookie cutters. Keep reading to learn how!
I am having so much fun this year trying new Christmas crafts. I love working with clay and thought it would be fun to make a new Christmas ornament for our tree year. In the past, I have made personalized clay Christmas ornaments (which highlighted the year of our family) and clay Valentine hearts.
I think making Christmas ornaments is one of the best crafts everyone can do for the holidays. Today I am part of a blog hop and I have joined twenty-four other bloggers. We are all sharing a creative and fun holiday ornament to make. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this post to discover a lot of very creative craft ideas!
There is something about this tree cookie cutter that I love. I love the fun and happy nature of this tree style. It’s not perfect (which I love!) and you can find the cookie cutter here.
What You Will Need to Make This Christmas Ornament
one wooden skewer
Decorative twine/string to hang ornaments
You can get either air dry the clay or bake it in an oven to harden it.
Directions to Make a Clay Christmas Ornament
The process is exactly the same as rolling and cutting sugar cookies. Use a rolling pin to spread out the clay.
Cut out the ornaments and lay them flat on a cookie sheet. I used parchment paper underneath.
Use the wooden skewer to place a hole at the top of each of your ornaments.
Let the ornaments air dry for 24 hours or put them in an oven for 15 minutes at 325 degrees. Be sure to check the directions on the package of clay to confirm the drying specifications for the brand you are using.
Prepare the glue. Add about 1/4 cup of glue to a paper plate and add 1/8 cup of water. Stir.
Paint each ornament with glue and then sprinkle with glitter crystal.
Let dry.
Thread the twine through the hole in the ornament. That’s it!
