Decorating Tips for a Coastal Farmhouse Dining Room
Today I am sharing Decorating Tips for a Coastal Farmhouse Dining Room. How incredible is the aqua green in here?
Our coastal farmhouse dining room table looks like it is on vacation at the beach. I added aqua to the table and I can’t believe how much I love it. I have some tips to share today that will help you create a beautiful and stylish space that is perfect for family dinners and gatherings.
A Coastal Farmhouse Dining Room
I have been collecting aqua blue and aqua green decor items for years for our beach house. I love to say, when you are restyling a room, always shop your own home first! It’s a good thing coastal farmhouse style is one of my favorites.
My dining room table and chairs are from Pottery Barn.
Aqua Coastal Farmhouse Decor
I love how this farmhouse dining room table looks set with all of the beach house decor items. Many of you are aware that we are remodeling our beach house. When I packed up the house I decided to bring home some items to use here.
Without a plan, I literally just put the coastal farmhouse decor items into boxes and bags and brought them home. As I unpacked the boxes and bags and began styling, the beach decor items seemed to easily find their places in their new home. I have always loved my farmhouse dining room table, and the weathered grey color of it is perfect with the beachy tones.
I may have mentioned before that I was a professional artist for many years before I started this blog. It is actually the reason I started the blog. But then I fell in love with blogging and I have blogged for over five years. The painting below is one that I painted for our family room. I even shop my own art for repurposed decor.
Adding Accessories to the Dining Room
When I began going through the boxes and bags, I found two packages of these beautiful cotton napkins. They were still in the packaging with the TJMaxx price stickers on them. Why had I not ever used them? They are so gorgeous!
The shutter that is hanging on the wall, I got from my good friend Debra Hall at DebraHallLifestyle. This shutter has been moved around my home for a couple of years now and I think it’s finally found a home for a little bit.
Below the beloved shutter is a drop-leaf table that I bought years ago at the Rose Bowl swap meet. Literally, probably 20 years ago. It was stained and a very dark brown. I painted it with mud paint and wow, look how great it looks now!
The picture below is another painting of mine. I painted full-time for about eight years and this is one that had perfect colors to accent the aqua beach tones. I also brought my beloved aqua glass collection, how pretty does it look against the painting!

Setting the Table
New placemats together with one of my favorite chargers worked beautifully for this table setting. These off-white placemats are going to get a lot of use!
I love to mix and match plates. I used two different plates from our beach house and I love how they complement each other on this table. Mix and match is a great way to extend your plates and glassware. If you have never tried mixing and matching to create a tablescape, give it a try! I love combining plates and glassware. I love a table that looks beautiful and everything matches but is not perfect or stuffy. Just like Tim Gunn from Project Runway says, “It needs to go together, not match”.
I am so in love with the emerald green and aqua greens of this table. It’s as if the green trees outside the window want to come inside. The aqua color and accessories transport this room to the modern farmhouse dining room look I was striving for!
The glassware is from Amazon and it is linked below.
The aqua color bubble glass vase is one of my favorites.

The dining room is Behr Coconut Shell! If you want the other room’s colors, head to my blog–> Home Tour –> and then click on whatever room you are looking for! It will be in the paragraph at the top! Let me know if you need any further help!
I, too, have packages of napkins, purchased at TJM, still in the package. Whenever I see linens, dishes or items that could be used for tablescapes, I buy it. Entertaining has always been a passion and at age of 70 plus, still going strong. I love creating inviting settings for my guests to enjoy. Feast with the eyes first then by the taste of the good food.
Enjoy your ideas and see so much of myself in what you enjoy.
