Welcome Inside My 100 Year Old Home
“The great gift of Easter is hope.”
– Basil Hume
I know today is very different than most of you thought it would be. We will be celebrating Easter at home today but it’s ok.
And that is because we are going to get through all of this. I know we are. And I hope you can feel this way too.
Before I share what is happening this upcoming week at My 100 Year Old Home, I thought it might be fun to look back at this past week.
First I have one question. Can you guess what my middle name is?
It’s “cheap”.
Ok, maybe that’s not my middle name. But I am cheap. I love a good bargain. And I am very proud of that.
I wrote two blog posts last week about how I saved a ton of money on the remodel of our Waco home.
How I Remodeled Our Kitchen on a Budget
By nature, I am always looking for a way to do things cheaper without sparing quality. Fortunately, I worked with a company called Semihandmade who makes doors for Ikea cabinets.
And frankly, I think their concept is brilliant.
I love Semihandmade doors for Ikea cabinets because I saved money buying the cabinet bases from IKEA and then selected the custom cabinet and door fronts from Semihandmade.
It’s a win-win solution. And so much less expensive than buying custom cabinets.
How I Found the Best Appliances for Our Waco Home
When I remodeled our kitchen in the Waco home, I was determined to find great looking appliances that were great quality at an affordable price. I found Zline appliances and purchased a range, range hood, and dishwasher.
On average, ZLINE Ranges are 50-60% less expensive compared to similar products on the market. ZLINE brings the best quality-to-price ratio in the industry. I didn’t have a huge budget for appliances and was thrilled to find a gorgeous convection range that offered so many great features.
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this stove. But I am not sure which part I love better, the quality or the price.
You can read my entire blog post here.
Thanks for all of your interest this week in the post I wrote about How to Age Terra Cotta Pots.
I love terra cotta pots but I don’t like the bright orange color. I wanted my pots to actually “look old”, not look like they were “painted to look old”. In this blogp post I shared two great ways to age terra cotta pots.

What’s New in The Family Room
I had a lot of fun this past week making a spring garland. With limited supplies, I managed to find a faux garland in our home, and I added homemade crepe paper flowers. I love how it turned out!
My favorite part of this project is the small freesia flowers that I made from crepe paper with my Cricut machine.

In the Kitchen
I don’t know if you are experiencing a few headaches with your grocery shopping.
I wrote a blog post about titled How to Make Homemade Pizza Using Everything in Your Refrigerator. It’s true, you can scrounge through your refrigerator and find some great pizza toppings. You. just need to be creative with what you have!
The key to making good pizza at home is cooking the pizza properly. Nothing is worse than a pizza with soggy dough. Ideally, you need an oven that cooks the pizza at a very high. temperature. A pizza oven is best, of course, but I own this counter-top pizza oven and I love it. It’s really well priced and so much fun!
It’s called the Silver Breville Crispy Crust Pizza Maker.
Head to my blog post to see how you can find great items in your refrigerator to top your pizza!
Let’s See What My Friends Are Up To
My friend Karianne from Thistlewood just might like hydrangeas as much as I do. And she wrote a great post with all of the information you need to know about hydrangeas.
Sarah at Dreaming of Homemaking wrote a post titled Over 35 + Indoor Kid Activities for Kids to Do at Home. Isn’t this wonderful?
Liz Marie Blog shared her 10 Ways to Style a Coffee Table.
