Welcome to Around the House at My 100 Year Old Home. This is new a weekly update I share every Saturday about what is going on at My 100 Year Old Home.

Welcome Inside My 100 Year Old Home

It’s been such a busy week and I feel like lots of projects are finally winding down. I also did a lot of Valentine’s Day Crafts. That makes me so happy.

By far the most exciting thing that happened this week was that our home in Waco officially listed on Airbnb. To clarify, listing a home on Airbnb is the easy part. Getting the city permit is a lot harder. Our home is on a double lot (which is awesome) and at the last minute we had to go through a few hurdles to “tie the lots together”. And I mean legally, not figuratively. If it sounds crazy, it is. I am just so glad my husband is in commercial real estate so he could attempt to explain it to me.

Once that was done, we got our city license and passed all of the inspections (that was the easy part!). Our Waco home is officially “rentable” and thank you to those of you that have already rented it! It’s actually even rented this weekend. I didn’t realize it would happen so fast, but it makes me so happy. And I am forever grateful for Kelly who is my assistant and house manager in Waco. She is amazing,

I started out this week by sharing the art I painted for our Waco home. Last week while I was in Waco, I spent a few days on our porch painting two abstract paintings. In my blog post, My Secret Life as an Abstract Artist, I shared how my journey as a full time artist changed when I started this blog!

I have mentioned before that I have a new Editorial Calendar that I use every day and it is amazing. All of my blog posts for January are all planned out. I am working on blog post ideas for February and March now. If you have any ideas or requests, please email me at [email protected].)

What’s New in The Family Room

We are hosting a family event this weekend and there has been a lot of preparation getting our home ready. I have spent most of my time in the backyard and on our third floor. These huge organizing and “purging” projects are finally done and I am so relieved. The difference is amazing. I promise to share these “real life” photos next week.

In the Kitchen with Leslie

Most of you know I have a theme for this month and it is Back to Basics.  This week I mastered a flaky pie crust and Pear Almond Pie and I learned so much! Chef Monique Chan was back in my kitchen and I loved cooking with her. The IGTV video showcases the day we spent together and all of the steps you need to follow to make this dessert. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Valentine’s Day Craft

I am really enjoying crafting for Valentine’s Day so I made these clay heart ornaments. They really are easy to make and there is a complete DIY on my blog.

The Best Sugar Cookies

As a beginner, I want to encourage all of you to give this a try. Decorating cookies is really fun. And the polka dots are very easy and fun,

  1. Your Waco Airbnb turned about spectacularly! I really want to visit Waco again and I’ve bookmarked your listing. I adore the branded towels you had done for the home and also the clever make-up towels. I learned all about those when having teenage girls! Your Valentine cookies are darling and I’m going in search of the kit. Sounds like it made the process a lot simpler and more fun! xo

  2. I so wish you could luck with renting your Tx’s home! Really enjoyed reading about the clay hearts. If I could request anything from you and your chef it would be to make something with phyllo dough. The whole thing is confusing to me but I dearly love turnovers and those elephant ear things. Thanks
