DIY Christmas Gift Tags

Today, I am sharing one of my favorite homemade gifts. These DIY Christmas gift tags are easy to make, personalized, and versatile.

I love these as a hostess gift or as a package topper. They are so thoughtful but also so easy to make!

This one is straightforward. As in “it only takes twenty minutes to make” easy. It is personalized and makes the perfect gift for anyone!

Personalized DIY Gift Tags

What are personalized gift tags? They are tags with names that can be used on gifts, such as place cards, ornaments, and more.

It is so easy to make these, and why not make a few for each family member with their names stamped on them? They look so great tied to a gift.

I even made some that I cut with a “home” shaped cookie cutter and stamped the words  “my 100 year old”. These are my brand tags whenever I give a gift from my business.

I made many of these for my friends this year. And I have made a lot for our family to use at Christmas.

What You Need to Make Personalized DIY Gift Tags 

Sculpey Original Clay

Cookie cutter shapes

Alphabet stamps

If you are making a lot of tags, you will want to buy this bigger package of air dry clay.

How to Make Personalized DIY Gift Tags

Roll out the dough to the desired thickness. It doesn’t matter what thickness you choose; just be consistent.

Cut out the tags using cookie cutters. Make sure the stamped name fits the size cutter you use.

Stamp the name or add the word “to” if you want to use it as a gift card. Either way is excellent.

Make a hole for the string at the top of the tag with a wooden skewer. 

Place the tags on a baking mat or parchment paper. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes at 250 degrees to harden. Let cool.

You can paint these or use a pen to highlight the name indentation. It’s up to you.

I have made a lot of items out of this clay.

Here are some vintage-shaped ornaments.

I made about sixty of these ornaments and stamped them with words that highlighted the year of our family.

I made “silver lockets” for Valentine’s Day and I used lace to make the imprint on the clay.

It was fun to use the name tags as place cards.
